This is the first signature I have ever made. I have no experience with photo editing.

Color scheme doesn't match the true mood of it and the lettering is a bit off centered vertically. That's only my opinion. _________________

Ok, for a first time on Gimp, I must congratulate you, very nice.
As for the color scheme, it should be a darkish color make it gray, and set the 2 batman heads mode to overlay, and it should work nicely, or just take the transparency down (on the right box labeled Layers, Channels, and ....).
The lettering in my opinion is fine, and looks very nice, but if you are gonna change the color, I suggest a fine red perhaps? It will fit in nicely.
Hope this helped. _________________ The leaves of lothlorien do not fall easily!

Ok, I made something new and I think it is better. Though the tracing job wasn't that good.

Overall, its not too bad.
But I suggest you learn to blend your images together, learn to make effects on the fonts, and learn to cut out a render properly.
If I was you, I would of made the Text the same color, but made three layers.
The bottom one I would make black, middle one white, and leave the top as it is. Then I would go to Layers--->Layer to Image Size and put that for all 3 layers.
Then I would do --->Filters--->Blur--->Gaussion blur and put it as 5, and apply for the 2 bottom layers. And Voila, you have an easy but effective, effect on the font.
I would manually cut your main render, as it is easier for a beginner on GIMP. Then for the render I would make 4 layers.
Bottom one I would do the Gaussion Blur on, but put it to at least 28, then on the second from bottom I would go --->Filters>Noise>Pick and Randomise it apply, and you should have a jitty effect on this layer. Apply the Gaussion effect on it again.
the second from top layer I would Gaussion Blur, but turn the transparency down to about 50. Then with the top render, make its Transparenccy 78.
And Voila you have a perfectly blended wallpaper/image.
Hope this helped ya mate.

Wow, that really confused me because I know about absolutely nothing about GIMP. I just downloaded it yesterday and all I made were those two things. Could you possibly direct me to a tutorial? _________________ Chat!

Good job for a first time using GIMP but it could be better. Just keep at it some, and life will reward you with better art. _________________
