Just imagine for a moment that Hogwarts was real (I know, I am crazy and lock me in a padded room). Anywoo, imagine your 10/11 years old and have had a all Muggle upbringing and suddenly you recieve 'The Letter' thought the post. How would you feel??

I'd think it was a hoax...thats actually how I think Hermione reacted...perhaps in cases like that they need to send a representative to make them believe its real.

Quite possibly, well you wouldn't believe would you?!? After all Muggles don't believe in Witches and Wizards (a part from in some religions - Wicker for example).

It would be cool though wouldn't it?

I read somewhere (can't remember where.. but I think they were making it up, but it seems like it could be true..) That Hermione believed the letter was real, and when she showed her parents they thought it was a fake, but eventually believed it was real...

And yeah, I'd probably faint lol.

same thing arabella... id think it was a hoax and id need proof...

but what if ultimately the admission requirements for hogwarts was belief that magic existed? so you cant have any proof or whatsoever... just the belief that the letter is authentic and the place exists...

oh well, if i were a hogwarts student, i think id do well in divination.

I dont think your muggle born. I think that you have a wizard or witch somewhere in your family.

Eg,

A wizard marries a muggle born--there child is unfortunatly a squib.

This squib marries another muggle. their child is a muggle.

Muggle (eg Hermiones Dad) + Muggle (eg Hermiones Mum) = Hermione (Supposidly a muggle born)

hmm.. that is also a possibility... that muggleborns actually have distant wizard relations... not a bad idea at all.

^ I agree, I think that it's a genetics thing. Like the reaona kid has blonde hair even tholugh both his parents had brown... somewhere up the tree someone had to have had blonde hair.

I'll admit it. I was actually 11 when I read the first book and I sometimes thought that maybe just maybe I'd get a letter anyday now and be able to do all this cool stuff I read about. But then it never came. I'll admit I even think it might happen still, even though I'm about to turn 17. I think maybe there is another school that doesn't start until you turn 17 but lol that won't happen. It would be very cool though.

I would be so excited.
And I'd brag to my brothers a lot.
Then I'd be constantly thinking about going.
It'd be.. interesting. x]

I would probably think it was rubbish and throw it away without even opening it. But when I got like 3 more the very next day I would probably see what it was all about.

I was 7 years old when I first saw the movie, and I believed that Hogwarts was real, and I really thought I was going to get the letter when I was 11. I would just think it was a joke if I got the letter, even if I kept getting them.

If we are saying that there were/are no books I'd be a little freaked out and confused.

But if it was a world where the books are out and telling about real events. I wouldn't believe it. I'd think it was a cool birthday present from my parents.
