Not a study, just statistics. Don't ask me how statistics could prove the color of the tooth fairy's wings, but they proved that the tooth fairy's wings aren't pink.

Or how about:

(Keep it clean)
Well, due to recent polls and statics I belive pink is infact not the tooth fairy's wing color. People assumed it was and i am beliving it was hot pink or tickle me pink I think the two colors were.

I also belive that the tooth fairy was not really a fairy but a "miracle" that created fairytopia.

lol, sorry -- I read your post too fast . . . I completely missed the not bit in your post about the statistics.

From my view (as a chrisitan) I believe what the Bible says, and that it is the devil's number.

But everyone is entitled to thier own opinion/beliefs.

I have enjoyed reading the first 2 pages (3rd wth?! Tooth Fairy?!) and seeing what everyone has said about the 'number 666'.

From a Christians opinion 666 is the devils number, but that does not mean whoever has three sixes in any form is cursed...

It just says beware of the number 666, not IF YOU HAVE THE NUMBER 666, YOU WILL BE CURSED...CURSED TILL DEATH!

I have no idea where this idea that 666 is a cursed number comes from, I mean in total truth its bullcrap.

I lawled. So what makes you think that you're crazy ideas are valid and other people's crazy ideas are bullcrap?

Oh, and in case you didn't notice - this thread (minus the first post) is almost completely satire. Superstition FTL.

Notice I said from a Christians opinion. I am sure that people think that Christians saying that its the devils number is bullcrap.

Also this thread was asking for an opinion so I gave you MY opinion, not someone elses.

I know; I just think it's a bit silly to claim that a number belongs to the devil, and then go scoffing at the idea of curses. Also why I brought up the tooth fairy - people go around laughing at it but then turn around actually take the bible seriously. It's all a bit too ridiculous for me.

It's perfectly ok to believe in some things and not other things.

It's a double standard. Why does there need to be evidence to believe in the tooth fairy, or in curses if there doesn't need to be evidence to believe in god?

Personally, I think there needs to be evidence to believe in anything, but if someone's going around believing things without evidence it seems like s/he should at least do it consistantly.

How come? Why can't someone like one think but not another? And who are you to tell them they shouldn't?

What do you mean, how come? It's a double standard. It's hypocritical. Such things are frowned upon in any other facet of society. To hold one employee to a higher expectation or rate of pay because he is male, or because he is white is unacceptable in society; what makes you think throwing the words 'god,' 'bible,' and 'religion' make this situation any different?

Here's an analogy: an employer interviews a lazy, underqualified man of an ethnic minority and refuses to hire him. Fine by me. What's not fine is when that same emploer hires an equally lazy and equally underqualified caucasian.

Likewise if somebody wants to scoff at the toothfairy, that's fine with me. What's not fine is scoffing at the toothfairy and then turning around and claiming that there's any validity to the bible.

Double Standards FTL.

What does job discrimination have to do with the tooth fairy?

DarMonkey, please tell me of the proof that there is a tooth fairy?!

And Arabella, DarMonkey brought the subject up as a metaphor, saying that if you believe in the Bible, why don't you beleive in things like the tooth fairy.

And another thing, anyone can scoff at anything they like, there is nothing against it. People are also allowed to have double standards. Its like believing in Santa, but not St Nick, if you get my point?

Ever heard of an analogy?
Job Discrimination:: Evidence Discrimination
tooth-fairy:god::minority:caucasian

It's about holding double standards. It's about saying you need evidence to believe in one thing, but you don't need evidence to believe in another. That's a double standard.

There isn't any - that's the point. Read.

Exactly.

People are legally allowed to have double standards (well... not in some cases), but that doesn't make them socially acceptable. Hypocrits are frowned upon. Requiring no evidence for one claim, and heaps of evidence for another claim should not be socially acceptable.

Well there is evidence that some/most of the bible is true, if you have read the bible, and looked into the history of some countries, likes Isreal, Greece, Egypt and so forth, you will see that there is a large amount of evidence that supports the Bible.

There isn't any evidence that a person should have ethics or morals. Society has laid down laws to follow, but aside from that most of us just believe that there are certain ways we should act.
Why should you not discriminate against someone different than you? They look different, or act different - instinct would run towards singling out a minority for different treatment. But we don't do it (well, hopefully most of us don't), because we believe it to be a wrong way to act.
I'm not saying that people don't act hypocritically in their beliefs. I constantly see people pick and choose which passages of the Bible, etc. to follow and which to ignore.
But everybody believes something that runs contrary to evidence. Love, hate, sadness, happiness could all be reduced down to the result of chemical interactions, overabundances, or deficits in the body. We could rationalize our feelings away but we don't. Yes, when you get down to it it's silly to believe one thing without evidence and not another, but we all do it.
