In a way at the end of book 6, Dumbledore died for harry just like Lily had because he had saved harry by stunning him and therefore losing his own life. This might be just my crazy thinking, but this may have cause another form of the charm harry had put on him when his mum died for him. Only this time, snape may not be able to touch or kill him. I just realized this after i reread HBP. So what do you think?

JRK said once in an interview that James could not have given the same protection for Harry that Lily gave. It was a mother's sacrifice that protected Harry.

So I vote no.

I remember that interview..

Although Dumbledore still could give Harry a protection just not the same.

about James...she also said it was important that Lily was clearly given the choice. And even disregarding that...he didn't die protecting Harry. Snape or Draco had no intention of killing him, at least at that moment. they didn't even know he was there. Besides, I think you have to have a relation to the person...thats why it runs in his blood.

No, I don't think so. Because when Lily did it she was sacraficing herself instead of Harry. In this they didn't go for Harry first. The main target was Dumbledore.

Dumbeldore didnt die to protect Harry, none of the Death Eaters knew Harry was there.

The only reason i can come up with is that Dumbeldore died so that Harry would be even more determined to get his revenge.

Snape's loyalty is still a bit iffy. Dumbledore just died because he was targeted the whole entire year and finally got it from Snape. However it's unlikely Harry needs another protection, so I say no.

Yeah I think it can only be passed on by a Mother. Though maybe Dumbledore did some spell to protect him in a way. Perhaps he gave Harry some kind of Phoenix Down type spell so that if Harry ever dies he will be re born, only once though... PFFFFTTTTT!!! Hahaha, I seriously doubt that but, hey, you never know...

That's a good theory. I never thought about it until I read it here. But another thing is that if Dumbledore's death did put another charm on Harry, then why in the DH did Voldemort get so close to Harry. Almost killing him. If he wouldn't have reached Tom Tonks' house. Harry might Have died. *TEAR*

I don't really think so as for someone here already said, it was Dumbledore who was the target and not Harry.
Draco was there with the intentions of killing Dumbledore, surely he wouldn't have the guts to kill Harry too as he was already being forced to do something against his will.
Plus, it was Voldermort who was supposed to kill Harry himself wasn't it? So of course he wouldn't get others to kill Harry...
That's beside the subject but anyway, no I don't think that another protection charm would have become active.
