im pretty positive that R.A.B. is regalus, the pieces just fit together too nicely. however, i like do try and think outside the box and come up with something more origianl. _________________
We all know that the books are translated in numerous different languages. The translations of Black + the initials R.A.B. match accordingly. I hate to admit it but after researching to no end instead, I’m sort of convinced.
Let me give you a couple examples.
Dutch – R.A.Z. “Zwarts”
Norwegian – R.A.S. “Svaart”
Finnish – R.A.M. “Musta”
Instead of translating the name Black in other languages, they kept it to his actual name and when it came to the chapter where Harry and Dumbledore recieve the note, its still signed R.A.B.
So what I’m trying to say is that the last name Black has been translated time and time again and it still corresponds to the Black Family name.

JKR: Um - [long pause] - such a good question. What do I wish I could be asked? [Pause.] Today, just today, July the 16th, I was really hoping someone would ask me about R.A.B., and you did it. Just today, because I think that is - well, I hoped that people would.
MA: Is there more we should ask about him?
JKR: There are things you will deduce on further readings, I think - well you two definitely will, for sure - that, yeah, I was really hoping that R.A.B. would come out.
MA: Forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly, but was Regulus the one who was murdered by Voldemort -
JKR: Well Sirius said he wouldn't have been because he wasn't important enough, remember?
MA: But that doesn't have to be true, if [R.A.B.] is writing Voldemort a personal note.
JKR: That doesn't necessarily show that Voldemort killed him, personally, but Sirius himself suspected that Regulus got in a little too deep. Like Draco. He was attracted to it, but the reality of what it meant was way too much to handle.

oh and finally, to support my on going theory about how R.A.B. cannot be Regulus Black, what if its just like

You rearange the letters and you get a totally wacked out but makes a whole lotta sense kinda name? I doubt that though because of my thorough research up there.
i wanna know what interview J.K. said we havent met them yet..and i wanna say that the translations are the biggest clue we are given...how could you deny that...it has to be regulus

the most convincing point is the translation of the word black into the different language editions. for that, scroll up and read it and weep. _________________
