She was never described as a head turner. She was never described as "hot."
Not all boys are attracted to looks, anyway. And that is pretty disturbing if they are.
I always pictured her as a girl who was not liked well just because of her looks. I would never think that Neville or Dean was shallow.
I think she's prettier than the cute girl who plays Luna. But that's my opinion. And they are never going to find a girl who is universally agreed on to be pretty. And I doubt they were really worried about finding a "hot" 10 year old girl when they initially did the casting. They found an adorabley pretty girl to play the coveted role of Ginny. And she grew up into a very pretty young woman.
Luckily, Harry, Neville, Dean, the casting directors, J.K. Rowling and everyone who actually matters isn't as shallow as most of Bonnie Wright anti-fans. Thank goodness their opinions matter more than a bunch of random fans who think that the hero must end up with a girl who is "hot."

No, if my memory serves (and I would hope so, as I just reread the damn thing about a week ago), there has been multiple conversations between Ron and Harry about how Ginny was becoming "too popular for her own good" and there were descriptions from other characters remarking that she's fairly good looking. A specific exerpt I just found:

"A lot of boys like her," said Pansy, watching Malfoy out the corner of her eyes for his reaction. "Even you think she's good looking, don't you, Blaise, and we all know how hard you are to please!"

Exracted from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince; pg 150, third to last indent.

So, yeah...she was pretty good looking. But yeah, like you said, shame on all those who want a mega-hot Ginny and all that jazz.

Boys can fancy girls they don't think are "hot."

You don't need to be hot to be popular.

and I didn't say anything about boys, just people in general.

Well, the only other way I can think of people like Blaise and a multitude of fellas who don't know her personality liking her for anything other than her looks would be for something I'm pretty sure she doesn't do.

It sure helps a lot.

Okay.

That is completely immature that you would even go there, lol. And I'm probably just as bad since I actually picked up on what you meant.
There is a good chance that Ginny really is just a great person and boys pick up on that.
I don't believe that it is only her looks alone that attracts boys because I highly doubt JKR would write that character as being attractive to boys only by her looks.

I agree. I think the current Ginny is fine. She just seemed a little young in some of the previous movies. Hopefully by now she is a little more mature.

i think i know where you might be coming from there is one picture of her that i makes her look quite bad and it is a harry potter one but i don't think they need to replace her if they need to replace anyone it should be Micheal Gambon, Daniel Radcliffe & Emma Watson

Emma Watson is fine.
Dan and Michael don't display the qualities that you think they would after reading the book but i wouldn't say they are bad.
They are all too important to change anyway.
As for Bonnie, i think she is pretty and i am sure the directors of hbp will make her look even hotter.

She's defiantly not how I thought she would be.
She was when she was little though.
But she's not at all ugly!

i like bonnie wright as ginny, and that's saying a lot seeing as i'm so jealous that she gets to kiss dan Sad
anyways, i think that those who don't like her are being far too picky.

i think bonnie is better looking when she actually plays ginny in the movies. like if u search ginny weasley on yahoo images it comes up with this one thats like an official merchandise picture or something where shes holding her wand and she looks really good there. she looks good enough to be super popular and to get all the guys.

but then i see pictures of bonnie at premieres and stuff and she doesn't look nearly as good. i don't know why but its prolly because i'm comparing her own makeup and style to that of professionally done makeup for the movie.

i dunno i'm just ranting outloud

JK kinda EDITED the movie makers with that cuz no one new for sure that Ginny would be hot

That is the rudest thing I have ever heard!!! Bonnie Wright is the very perfect part for Ginny in my opinion, and just because she isn't a "hot" blond bombshell doesn't mean she is ugly! I happen to think she is very pretty!!!! Who agrees?

I certainly agree. I think the actress is adorable.

Yeah, plus I don't think it would be right If Ginny WAS super attractive and hot. It just seems perfect that she would be such a great girl that she is without her looks. But she is actually really pretty! It is just icing on the cake.

She is ugly. When I read the books it seemed that she looked good, but not in the movie.

I actually think Bonnie Wright fits her character well. Cute, but not in an overbearing way.

Remember, she isn't supposed to outshine some of the other gals in the series.

I remember there being quite a flare up about the casting choice for Fleur, though. Many thought the actress chosen wasn't pretty enough for the role. Sad

I suppose its Bonnie's turn.

She's cute! Very Happy

The use of the word Hideous was a bit harsh, though. Although you are quite entitled to your opinion...

I'm sure Emma is thankful that her own beauty outshines than of Hermione's. Very Happy

Most boys, sadly, are quite shallow as to fall with a girl for her looks. I am sure that JKR meant for everyone to like Ginny because of her attractive looks. "Hot." She was meant to begin evolving from her fourth year, then to fifth, to one of these classical high-school popularities, just this one would have a personality. I admit that Dean and Michael would have went for liking her for the personality AND the looks, because, no offence, but most of our kind are as shallow as liking someone who is good looking but stupid more than someone who is bad looking and intelligent, funny, and friendly. Zabini likes her for her looks. In fact, I think he dislikes her personality.

But this has nothing to do with Bonnie. Bonnie's hawtness is more than capable of handling a couple of (dozens) crushed guys. This, added to Yates' mania to throw five tons of make up in the characters, and making them look completely nothing like them will help to making Bonnie from attractive to hot.

But if you ask me, Books > Movies anyway. I don't really care if Ginny is rated in my mind for 8.49999 or 8.5 as long as she plays her fiery role good enough for me to like the character. I'm not planning to get into Bonnie when I see HP6. Razz
