ok in OOTP and HBP as usual, the students go to hogwarts on sep. 1. well they always say that they start classes the next day. but if you look it up, in 1995, sep. 2 was a Sat. and in 1996 sep. 2 was a Sun. but then you normaly hear of them (students) having to catch up on homework over the weekends. but as clearly stated, they go to classes on the weekend. thoughts Confused ?

Jo did the start of school all wrong, and fans have pointed it out many times. You'll also notice that Sept. 1 is usually a Monday in the books, and they start classes on the next day . . . which happens to be a Monday as well. It's a weird oversight, but she had a lot on her mind.

Here are calendars from the lexicon. There is one for each book that is meant to give a chronological order of Harry's life during his time at Hogwarts. Most of them give the inconsistencies with Dates and the days that they fall on within the books.

She ob viously didn't really care about what the real calendar said. The kids usually grabbed the bus on a Sunday and classes started on a Monday, September 1st. It was neat and tidy that way.

I think she didn't really care about when the school year started. I think it was more important to her to write a good book.

As the genre says, HP books are fantasy books. Smile
