I think there's no such society because there are more important things for witches and wizards to do...and admittedly, it's not super widespread, any cruelty usually has a practical purpose in the books. I'm referring to the dragons and fluffy or w/e.

though i don't think most of the wizards gave a ****
except hagrid.. his love 4 his creatures always gave me a warm glow inside.

Lmao, yeah, didn't he run off in the middle of the hogwarts battle, right in front of death eaters and what not, because he was trying to protect some creatures? (Book 7) I thought that was hilarious. And Harry went after him.

Yeah, overall, I'd say any animal cruelty in the books is offset by Hagrid's extreme caring personality.
