I am slowly hyperventilating. I just added up all the receipts so far the bridal shower and the dress and the shoes... and I added in the money I still owe for the rest of the dress and the alterations that I have to pay because the dress shop screwed us over. I'm really starting to resent my friend now.... her and her stupid huge wedding that they can't afford... They can't afford new pants for the baby, but two huge limos, that they don't mind saving up for. Rolling Eyes

Well, as maid-of-honor my job was to throw the bridal shower. Both mothers (groom and bride's) insisted on invited every woman they have ever met in their entire lives. There was no room left to invite the bride's friends. And although both mothers offered to help me financially and physically ... they didn't. So, basically, I threw a huge party for them.
As a member of the bridal party it's custumary for us to pay for our own dresses and shoes, assuming that the requests are reasonable. The price of the dress was actually reasonable as was the shoes, very pretty silver ones I got to pick out myself. Bu tthe alterations is killing me. And extra 68 dollars for alterations... when a dress off the rack would have fit better. The dress shop obviously measured improperly. The entire bridal party was stunned when we tried on the dresses. All of our dresses have to be compleetly torn apart and resewn back together.
I refuse to pay for things like the limos and flowers nd dj... thats obviously none of my concern. But it hurts me to know that they are scrimping and saving for these things that seem so trivial when their son, whom I love like my own, is wearing clothes that are too small for him and didn't even have a proper coat by the end of the winter.

haha, we are powerful!

Sometimes weddings get so out-of-hand, that they consume the couple and set-up poor expectations for the rest of the marriage.

My friend, one of the bridesmaids, theorizes that they're having a big wedding to compensate for the lack of love in their relationship.

I hope it lasts forever, but the outlook is not so good. They fight more than a morried couple.

yeah... it's hard to watch.
For awhile none of us would go to their apartment because the night would always end with him yelling at her and slamming a door. And then he goes and wonders why his 3 year old son keeps yelling and slamming doors. They are so messed up.
Lately it's been better. Not by much, but a definite improvement.

Well, he has a temper... and I think he's resentful. So that doesn't help his temper. And she has no common sense, so she is always commiting random acts of stupidity. They also both want ... stuff. He has dreams of homes and motorcycles and stuff like that... but with a child to support and little education, it's just not realistic right now. And she has dreams of pampering and a happily ever after with her dream prince on a horse... and that's just not realistic right now, either. I think, in a way, they're both resentful of each otehr... maybe even their son. And they take it out on each other... b ut that's just what I theorize...

what size is he love? i have damian clothes that i was gonna donate. and tell the mothers if they dont make with their share of the cost, you are going to take them to court for it.

it is not your job to pay for everything and since they invited extra non agreed upon people they can pay.

want me to talk to them?
