One of the keys on my laptop popped off and now I can't get it back on right (it's sticking up on one side). Anyone know how to get it back on right?

I have a similar problem... my spacebar kept sticking. So I popped it out to clean it. Now, it not only still sticks, but it's wobbly, too. Stupid keyboard. Sad

It's not a laptop. Alastor has told me I need to get a new keyboard, but I don't want to because I only just got this one about 10 months ago. I am being stubborn. Smile

10 months is a long time for a keyboard..
I switch mine out every 6 months.
Reason: Key's deteriorate, as in they lose there shade of letters. They stick, and they get really dirty and gross.

The one I had before, the original one, lasted me many years, though. And it worked fine until I had it shipped back home. I plugged it in and nothing happened. Twas sad Sad Anyway, to me, 10 months is a short time.

Did you plug it into a different computer when it did not work?
If so,
Drivers were not installed and or compatible.
Version of windows or computer itself could not read the software/hardware of it.

PS: GET A MAC

Nope same computer. You know I have the same, original Dell from when those commercials were popular... "Dude, you're getting a Dell."
I used to have a Mac, but I like Windows better.

Well, I am starting to believe Mac (Apple) is going to over through Microsoft and Windows. It is catching up and I bet you in 5 years Mac will be the future of Operating Systems, Software, and Hardware.

Well, in five years I'll re-evaluate my computer situation, ok? Promise. Until then.... *huggles her computer* *shuns her keyboard*

on my laptop I am missing a couple of keys (well actually I still have them in a tin but I can't get them back on) but that isn't a problem for me because there are still green knobby things that stick up and I can press. try it out and see if it will still work, if they do don't worry about it, just leave it off. which key is it, out of curiousity? my missing keys are not very commonly used.

It's the G key. I'm probably going to take it somewhere and see if they can get it on right.

well call the customer care service and ask them if they could replace the keyboard part of your laptop. My sisters had the same problem, I called Dell and they shipped a new one for free

I have had my laptop keys for over two years and they are still in perfect condition. I have to be extra careful because I have no money to fix it.. Rolling Eyes

why do you need to replace it every 6 months? that just seems like a waste. You can clean out the junk in your keyboard with some of that air in a can stuff, and the letters fading isn't a big deal. You should know where the letters are anyway. I don't even look at my keyboard letters, so if they disappeared and i like randomly forgot where the keyboard letters were, I'd be screwed. :/ haha. I'm just saying, replacing your keyboard is a waste of money.

That has happened to me. I just remove it and replace it with medium pressure and it normally pops back in fine. If anything, get an old tooth brush with soap and water and scrub the back, it might be dirty. =[

Yeah, most of the time when keys start sticking in the first place it's because they're dirty. So if they don't go back on when you pop them off, looking for little pieces of dirt and whatnot that would make it not fit right is the best thing to do first. If that doesn't work, take it to get fixed or call the manufacturer.
