| I've read all the HP books multiple times and came to the conclusion that the whole plot of the GoF is not needed. Wouldn't it have accomplished the same thing for Moody (Crouch) to hand Harry a book or something and that just be the portkey to Voldemort's location? |

Ugh. These topics annoy me. How can you say that it was unneccessary? Didn`t you like it? However Rowling decided it to be is good enough, I think. And seven years were needed anyway.
Maybe Voldy didn`t feel strong enough at the beggining of the year to face him. And there were other preparations needed. And it would have been too suspicious if Harry would suddenly just dissapear. Maybe Voldemort thought that everyone else will think that Harry died in the maze because of the attack of ... I dont remember what was in there. Blast Ended Screwt, for example.
I think all the books were neccessary, I never even came to think that some of them weren`t.

that was the whole point of making sure harry got to the cup first, so that it would look like an accedent when harry never returned or when harry's dead body did return. remember voldemort didn't want the entire wizarding world to know that he was back. his whole plan was to surprise the world with his rebirth. harry wasn't supposed to make it out of the grave yard alive, it ment that somebody could warn dumbledor and that it would be much harder for voldemort to surprise the wizarding world when he did show himself

well, yes, yes I know that  but if someone would just hand Harry a book that was a portkey and he`d suddenly dissappear, someone would suspect Voldemort, or at least some Death Eaters. Dumbledore would. Or if noone would realize what has happenned Harry would just be gone and that would be the end of HP but that not how it was meant.

| of course it was necessary! Voldemort came back!YAY!....I mean boo.Besides are all the Hogwarts students just going to skip from third year to fifth?Although it wasn't my favorite book... |
