I hate the thought of HP coming to an end. I really hope JK is holding surprises for us in the near future. I'm thinking even a prequal set of stories about Harrys Parents, Serius, Lupin and the gang and their adventures before Harry was born, that builds all the way up to the moment little Harry gets his scar... THEN we follow right into the books we all know and love. JKR could surely create another set of books from this. Course I'm sure im not the first to have this 'brilliant' idea, but hopefully JK is considering it.

As much fun as it would be, I don't think she has it in her to do it. Not to mention it wouldn't exactly be, "Harry Potter."

I wouldn't mind a story about, say the marauders or the founders. I think that would be fun.

The history and advendures of the Mauraders. This way we get most of the character we are used to, were back in Hogwarts. The name Harry Potter can still be worked in to the title, such as "The Harry Potter Chronicles" or something (Im sure JK can come up with something great). As far as her "not having it in her" I'd have to disagree, she wrote 7 spectacular books, after resting a while I see no reason why she couldnt keep going if she chose to.

If you were in her shoes, what would you do? Smile

If i were in her shoes i would go ona cruise with all the money i made and then maybe write some different fantasy books, i dont think its nice that an author like JK should be typecast into just being "known' for writing harry potter, its the same with films, like Hugh Grant is typecast into one genre: Romantic Comedies (But he is one of my fave actors!) I think JK should take a break and then branch out into a new genre or series of books. Change is a good thing Very Happy

At this point JK has reached a level of fame and fortune that typecasting is not really much of a threat. I do think she should write other stories (non HP related) I'm sure they would all be great, but I would still love to see some more stories at least based in the HP universe. Besides a good set of prequal books would only serve to further enrich the current stories. I don't think Im being unfair for this wishful thinking, thats what fans do! Smile

well these books about the mauraders would ruin the 3 book. it's all about learning about lupin and serius isn't it. if you knew serius was inocent what would be the point of being scared for harry?

there is actually another thread that explains that JK will be doing individual stories for her favorite characters... its in the great hall... the title says something about it being released this month!!!

I dont see a prequel anywhere in the future. JK Rowling has wrote the books she set off to write and thats just that.
