i think it's because the books become more and more dark and violent as the series went on...JK may have intended for the entire series to be for the younger generations but instead it has grown into an older age group
i got lucky...when the books came out i was generally the same age as harry/ron/hermione so i have been able to grow up with them...so now when i get older instead of them being just books i read...i can tell my kids i grew up with the books _________________

yes i realized that. books 1 and 2 are quite kiddie. book 3 gets less kiddie, but still fine. books 4, 5, and 6 are so not kiddie anymore, with the endings resulting in deaths. _________________

yeah, because the children target audience in books 1 and 2 were growing up, so her biggest fan base would outgrow the books, so she decided to adapt the books towards her biggest fan base. _________________

no i dont think so. i think it has to do with the fact that harry is growing up, so she had to make him more matured and less kiddie... i mean, ive never seen a 16 year old who had no crushes... _________________

I think it is a combination of many factors but I'd also like to add in that Jo's writing skill has probably "changed" or even "improved" over the years. Saying improved is an opinion obviously, so that's why I say it changed.
I've been writing for a couple years now and my skills have gotten better in my opinion and they have definitely changed and your ideas change.
As an aspiring author, I know how quickly your ideas can change once you start writing and how they alter once you are in the middle of your story. _________________

It could also be that the 'base readers' are growing up as well....... _________________

Same here, but I think it's a mix of both ideas...the characters/readers have grown up and JKR's writing style most likely has shifted over the years. |

Yeah like me. I'm 18 and I still haven't had a crush yet ( well I am sort of generally a misanthrope so I don't really think it counts). _________________ Woo Hoo!!! |
