I figured that the cover showed the final battle scene but I was one of the people who thought that Deathly Hallows was a place. I thought Harry was outside at Deathly Hallows. Boy, was I wrong!

yeah I did at first too until I read an interview with the illustrator saying they were the same curtains on the cover of SS. they were at the opening and close of the saga. cool...but misleading. Sad

I personally think the U.S. cover is a load of crap. Sure, it's beautiful art, but nowhere in the book does that little snippet there take place.

I was a little disappointed by it.

The Gringott's cover is actually the one used for every English-speaking country except the US. I don't know why the US has to keep being different. Changing the name of Philosopher's Stone was bad enough.

We have a different publisher, therefore different options. We have a different cover artists that are hired by our different publisher.
Most countries have different covers.

i thought it was that chamber with the curtain that sirius went through when he died. it was much brighter than i had imagined, though.
