personally i throught richard harris played dumbledore better as he acted like the dumbledore in the books with a passive and calm nature. Where the present dumbledore has a sort of aggessive side.

What do you all think? Smile

Richard Harris was definatly the best, the other guy is alright but he dont have the right ensce about him

I think Richard Harris was the best. He was calm like the Dumbledore in the books, but the new Dumbledore has a temper. It's like Dumbledore got a temper problem over the year. Wink

I really thought Richard Harris was a perfect Dumbledore... just as I imagined him. He was wise, kind, and immensely smart, yet still had that mischevious twinkle in his eye. I think that present Dumbledore is okay; my biggest complaint is that he is not as "wise"-seeming as Richard Harris' portrayal. They seem to be focusing more on the mischevious side of Dumbledore in the later movies, I think.

Richard hariss was perfect but I wonder what we would say if he was cast second.

Gambon is alright but richard was way better.

I think that the first Dumbledore was the best because he looked more like the dumbledore in my head that J.K. rowling described then the newer one.

I think I am definately in the minority. I really prefer Michael gambon as Dumbledore. Don't get me wrong I liked Richard Harris. But I prefer Gambon.

Had anyone noticed that Gambon has his beard tied?? That kind of bugs me. There's the beard and then, all of a sudden, there's something tying it together. Does anyone know why???

I really don't like how there is so many directors :/ Because stuff ends up turning different like you said Dumbledore's beard. I know its probably not possibile for a director to direct 7 movies though. I can imagine how time consuming that would be.

Definitely Richard Harris! He had those pleasant, twinkling eyes and he was a lot more like the Dumbledore I love in the books. Gambon is not at all how Dumbledore is, I always say he has invented a totally new character.

i love richard haris! he was perfect for the role of dumbledore. when i was reading the books i pictured a loving and caring old man but with a bit of sterness about him. and richard haris' voice i think expressed all of that!

Richard Harris was DEFINATELY better. The fact that his beard is always tied up is really annoying. The fact that he's a lot more aggressive makes him a less believeable Dumbledore. With Richard Harris, you caould tell that Dumbledore was generally a nice guy, but when he gets pissed off, WATCH OUT!
