OK I searched to see if this had been discussed before, so if it was it wasn't under an obvious title or in an obvious place Razz

In Half Blood Prince it says she died in a room where all the doors were locked. Sure the DE or Voldy could have apparated in...but later we learn that you can put anti-apparition charms up. So why didn't she? They all say she was a very talented witch...so how did she get killed when she seemingly could have prevented it so easily?

Wellm it doesn't really explain the situation. I get the idea that she was in her house when the attack happened. She ran into some room and locked the door. Before she had the chance to put up any security measures, they got in.

Maybe she didn't even have her wand. Maybe she put it down a few minutes before, and couldn't get to it.

There are a lot of ways to imagine the situation that make sense.

She could have been caught by surprise or perhaps without her wand.

I agree.

She also could have panicked, been asleep, or been a bit drunk. Who knows?

Yeah, there are so many things that might have happened. Just like Potters on the night Voldermort attacked. It was a surprise and they didn't have much time.

When I first read that I snickered, but actually, yeah, it's possible.

I was thinking the Potter when I wrote my reply. People wondered how it was that someone as talented as James and Lily were supposed to be couldn't fight them off. Well, turns out they were wandless and caught by surprise. DD himself was caught off guard and in a weakened state.

Madam Bones was a good witch, but You-Know-Who was better. A little alarm can't stop him doing what he does.

ooo true about the potters. but my point more was...why wasn't there anti apparition charms on her house? unless he just walked in...I suppose thats what he did with the potters. and yeah an alarm...would have alerted her to put up the charms. I'm going with she was drunk Razz

I guess she felt safe enough to not need them or something, I dunno. But it is possible, just look at the Potters. Sad

She might have had a secret keeper who ratted her out. Unfortantly, like the Potters, it has happened before.

oh yeah...how did I forget about the secret keeper? haha. I doubt she had one though...you think that would have been mentioned. so she probably could keep him out...unless as I think somebody said, she's was good but he was just better. poor bonsie Sad

I don't think J.K. would have mentioned it either way because when you think about it. Hogwarts had the most greatest protection and yet it fell.

I was thinking of them as well. We all know that the DE's like the element of surprise, so I think that it's safe to assume that it was a surprise that she never expected.

Yeah, I doubt they'd RSVP first. Although, it would be polite of them if they did.

I'd be expecting them everyday lol. CONSTANT VIGILANCE! and particularly that she's in the ministry...I really don't think she wasn't expecting it. she'd have been on her guard. the only thing is she has no way to know when it will be.

Silly ravvy, didn't you read Hogwarts, A History? Muggle technology doesn't work when there is too much magical interference. And Madam Bones's house was located in the Hogwarts basement with the bats, so obviously a muggle alarm system wouldn't work.
