My ideas to help improve the site:
    New logo
Bumping aloud as long as you wait 24 hours before you last posted in the thread.

Other Member Suggested Ideas:

    New skins/themes

I hope you support these ideas.

The 'General Section' is The Leaky Cauldron

I think we could use different themes.. like, when you go to edit your profile, there's a drop down for it.

I don't think it's too plain, I like it. But I guess you can't please everyone.

Faint Brushfire, thank you for taking the time to post suggestions for the forums. We welcome and appreciate all feedback and suggestions, even if we don't take action on all of them. We like to hear the ways in which our members think we can improve the site.

Below are my responses to the suggestions listed:

Quote:
New logo

Generally, we update the banner around the time a major item is released (book or movie). Odds are, the banner will remain the same until promotional materials for the HBP movie are put out. Until that time, we will probably stick with the image from Deathly Hallows.

Topics do not get buried very quickly on this site. If the topic gets farther down the list, it is generally for a reason. This is something that will not be allowed.

New skins/themes

We do not have any plans to do this in the near future for reasons discussed in more detail in this topic.

Do to multiple Mods installed on the forum, we can't really change the Forum theme, to much code to deal with.

What thread? This one?

I'm not familar with phpBB, I am only familar with myBB and IPBFree. Can't you just insert skins? That's not a Mod... isn't there an "Skin" part in the Admin CP?

There are "other" MOD's that are installed over this skin, making it very difficult to install, requiring code changes and other management.

Oh I see what you mean now. Like Board Wrappers? Now I understand why it would be hard to install another skin.

It might be a little harder then that. It is no where near compared to any kind of free forums. I do have a little experience there and I can Imagine Dar sitting there trying to get everything to be compatible.

Well, what I have to suggest doesn't have to do with the apearance... I have noticed that there are too many threads and too many pages (I hope that this is the right word) in some of them. That makes the forums slow... In my opinion, you should delete threads that are not so popular and keep about 10 pages in every thread... I hope I have made myself clear...

I believe if you delete posts/topics it tampers with the board statistics, although, I could be wrong. Confused

Doesn't deleting the posts take them from the people who posted?

Thanks for the feedback. To some extent, this is known as forum pruning. It would remove topics that haven't been posted in for a certain number of days (but not parts of topics). We keep all posts since the beginning of the forums for historical and statistical reasons. I don't forsee us changing this policy. The way the topics are listed is designed to help you see the most recently active topics. Additionally, you can always get to the last page of a topic by clicking on the link for that page.

I know... The problem is that it takes me about 10 to 15 seconds to go somewhere... I mean, it's a bit slow...

I don't understand. Does it take you 10-15 seconds to post each time or 10-15 seconds for you to find the topic you are looking for ?

Sorry, my mistake. I click on a topic and it opens after 10-15 seconds... sometimes more... that happens obviously because it's a huge site...
