Trigun - Saw half and got bored.
Gundam Wing - Saw an episode, but wasn't able to watch more.
Vandred - Never heard of it. I'll look it up.
Rurouni Kenshin - See Trigun
Fate/Stay Night - Saw one episode but never got back to the rest. I should finish it.
.hack//sign - The first series rocks. Legend of the Twilight Bracelet made me ill.
G Gundam - In my opinion, the best damn gundam show ever created.
FLCL - Epic.

School Rumble - Never heard of it. I shall look it up.
Love Hina - I watched a couple of episodes, but it didn't catch my interest.
Magic Knight Rayearth - I've heard good thing about this show. I need to watch it..
Naruto - Unfortunately, I hate this show with a passion.
Bleach - I watched a few episodes, but didn't like it.
Slayers - This show is godly. I never finished it, but watched a bit.
Inuyasha - I also hate this show.

My reccomendations:

Karin/Chibi Vampire - Seen it all. Very cute story. (:
Princess Tutu - Seen all of this as well. It's very well drawn, beautiful animation, and great music. The story is superb.
Hunter x Hunter - Action-Shonen. Like a cross between DBZ, YYH and Naruto, except more awesome than the three of them combined.
Vampire Game - Manga Only - I have the whole series minus a few books in the middle, but I've read the whole series through friends in that case. The story is extremely original, and the art is simbly gorgeous.
Hellsing - I've seen both the original anime and the Hellsing Ultimate OVA, and honestly the OVA is better. A must-see for anyone with a taste for bloodshed.

Death Note was also pretty decent, but I stopped reading when a certain character was killed off, then skipped to the end to watch what happened.

My friend Selby said Chrono Crusade was awesome, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

And honestly, I hate Chobits, too.

I have to disagree. I thought it was funny and cute. Both me and my girlfriend enjoyed watching it together. Although, I have to agree with you about Naruto. I can't stand it. >.<

Eh well, we all have our own opinions... I just thought I'd help out for those who are NEW to anime...

btw, Tenchi Muyo -wise... I think Tenchi Universe was the best one...

Lol, Tenchi was amusing. I couldn't STAND the English dub, though.

I'm sorry, Dark Mark, but I just didn't like it. The animation was nice, but the concept didn't strike me, just like that one show with the planet full of men and the female robots, but that was a manga I read when a friend brought it to school.

And I'm sorry, HPNumbers, I thought this was a discussion for putting out our opinions and listing our own favorites. >_>

I did see and love Cowboy bebop. Did anyone see Samurai Shampoo ? It was made by the same people who made cowboy bebop. Instead of jazz they supposedly use Hiphop.

Rurouni Kenshin OVA Tsuioku Hen (AKA Trust & Betrayal)
Without doubt my all time favorite(i'm a relatively seasoned anime watcher) it has great story, great artwork/character design, great music. The ending is so emotionally perfect....

Also great series:
Wolf's Rain - Very dramatic series, has a rally great storyline and artwork.
Basilisk - same as obove, yet it's more action than drama.
Black Lagoon - Unique anime, never seen such a thing. if you like a good story with lots of gunfights, this is your thing.
Higurashi no naku koro ni - Horror anime with a great storyline, which puzzles you for almost the whole series. second season is Higurashi no naku koro ni kai

Many more I'd recommend, but this'll keep you busy for a while.

actually, i don't think i've heard of some having watched Wolf's Rain who didn't cry at the end. It's just such a masterfully made series.

The most powerful moment for me was when
Spoiler:

Toboe died.

He was my favorite character in the series, and I just lost it.

that was indeed a very emotional moment. I kept thinking, "this is not happening, this can't be happening"..
but it was one of multiple tearshedding moments..
