do you think that mrs. dursley didnt like magic because she didnt have any and she was jelious of lily?

I thought JKR tried to make it obvious in DH that Petunia didn't like magic because she was jealous of Lily and her magic.

I'm not quite sure what the poll is asking though... The question isn't really a yes or no question...

well both i guess...

see it happens in case of siblings.. all that competeion to have their parents attention..wasnt only with petunia..we see ron not exactly jealous of his brothers though..but still felt pretty akward sometimes and also burdened..

anyway... i think pertunia would have loved to join hogwarts(who wouldnt)..she also wrote letter to DD..to take her in

but i belive she later started to hate magic becuase she knew..she CANNOT have it... so lets hate thosse who have it sort of thing...

to me at least, petunia's jealousy was obvious since book 1 when she explodes in the chapter where harry finds out he is a wizard saying and tells the story about how lily got the letter and everything

Of course she would have acted diffrently.
She wrote to dumbledore and asked him if she could go, and its because that she was refused to go that turned her against the whole wizarding community cuz she was so jelous.

yeh she would have acted differently. i kind of feel for petunia, i know how i'd feel if my sister turned out to have all these amasing powers and i had none... her jealousy is understandable.

I got the feeling after finishing up DH that Petunia was extremely jealous of Lily because of her magical ability.

Sibling rivalry is common amongst all siblings, fiction or real, and these two were no exception.

What tipped the scales for me was when Petunia wrote DD asking to get into HW. If she wasn't jealous of magical ability, either for the affection of her parents or because she simply wanted to be a witch, I don't know what could have better displayed that.

Regardless of the motive behind it... she was jealous. Life later in the Dursley house proved it in the way they interacted with Harry.

Petunia would have shown signs of magic also and at the time she was a little girl and wanted to go to Hogwarts with her sister. She only hated magic because she saw how everyone treated Lily after she became a witch.(or it was shown that she was a witch)

i think jealousy was AT LEAST a HUGER part of it. And to answer the title of this thread yes, i do think.
