Just to see if anyone know's what could be wrong because neither me or my dad have the foggiest idea what's wrong.
Several months ago, my computer got taken out of my room. Nothing happened to it while i didn't have it. I know because it stayed in my parents room the whole time(In case it needs to be said, i got grounded for awhile). When i get my computer back, i plugged everything back up and now, the moniter wont turn on. I don't know if it's the moniter that's acting up, of if it's my computer.
i know this'll prolly sound redundant BUT, have you made sure everything is plugged in the right spot? _________________ Twilight fan? Come here!

E-mail the company from a computer... that's screen isn't working? If you email them from a different computer, that'll work, lol. But then you can only follow their directions from a printed out sheet of paper. If you call them, then can troubleshoot with you step-by-step over the phone. That's what I do. When I get an e-mailed troubleshooting list, it's usually only the basic things like, "Make sure the moniter is turned on" or "Make sure the moniter is plugged in." _________________

Well, my computer isn't a store bought computer like a Dell. My dad helped me pick out the parts from Newegg.com and he ordred them and built my computer for me. I just payed for all the parts.

Well, i'm trying to save my money here, so i'm looking for a way to fix this problem without spending any money. I've i've gotta buy a new part, i'll do it, but i just wanna see if there's any possible way to get my monitor working for free. My dad, who built my computer, thinks i may just need a new mother board. But that leads to needing to buy new memory, a new processor, and a new video card. if i go that route i may as well get a new monitor while i'm at it.

Might as well build a new computer.. or just get a Mac _________________
First, you need to figure out if the problem is coming from your computer or your monitor. Your two best options to figure this out are:
1.) Try a different monitor with your computer. (If this works, it's something related to the monitor.)
2.) Try your monitor on a different computer. (If this works, it's something related to the computer.)
From there, you can move forward. depending on whether the problem is with the monitor or your computer. Whatever, you do, don't just start buying parts. _________________
Well, i guess it's the moniter then because i tried an old moniter out to see if it'd do anything different from what my current one was doing. It started doing the same thing as well.
Was the computer off all the time? If it was the CMOS battery could be dead. The battery is required to store information used during startup. _________________ Ravenclaw-because smart people rock
Unfortunately, it could be a lot of things given the limited amount of symptoms. Given the situation, my first guess would that it had to be something related to the motherboard, since the computer doesn't seem to be booting at all. Alternatively, it could be related to the video card (assuming you aren't using integrated video). It'd have to be completely shot, otherwise at least something would be displayed.
Odds are, you'll need someone with a decent amount of computer hardware troubleshooting experience to handle the situation. You said your dad built the computer. Hopefully he can help. Good luck! _________________
hmm, when you plugged in the other monitor, did you use the same monitor cable? small chance it has something to do with the cable.
if not, you could try cleaning your pc, and the connections from dust and dirt. I don't know how long your PC's been staying in your parent's room, but if it was standing on the floor, it is well possible it's gathered dust. Dust kills electronics. Just oped the PC's cover and clean it with a soft brush/vacuum clean it. it worked for my stereo, might also work for your pc;)
