This was the first clear clue.
After Sorcerer's Stone, I think you were supposed to wonder which boy would get the girl, and you were supposed to think, "the hero, of course", but by the end of Chamber of Secrets if you were holding any hope of anyone but Ron for Hermione, you were going to be disappointed.
Hermione gets what she wants, doesn't she? 
I think that James & Lily's were "professional" members of the Order of the Phoenix because they didn't need the money of having "real Wizard jobs."
Lily was from a normal middle-class Muggle family (isn't that the impression we get from Petunia, that her family was normal, middle-class, British) but James Potter was from a very wealthy wizard family. (Don't we get that info from Sirius?)
If not, whatever jobs they had, they made a ton of wizard money at, because, of the very large sums of wizard gold in Harry's vault... We know they defied Voldemort three times, so the could have been Aurors like the Longbottoms (although that would have come out at some point, wouldn't it?) or maybe they were Unspeakables? (They'd make a lot of money, wouldn't they???) |

i think the relationship between them will happen; if not their will be some very dissapointed fans.
i also think that once/if they will break up it will be very awkward so i don't know where jkr will take this |

JKR said that since James was wealthy he had a job who didn't have much income.
i don't think they were unspeakables either. at least james (short income). lily i'm not seeing either.

But believable.
It is a such a Ron thing to be an insensitive prat--not realizing who he really likes until his sixth year.
JK better have something happen between them by book seven or I'm going to be frustrated as hell. |

it kinda sucks that ron almost ruined it all in the fourth book,but he was REALLY REALLY REALLY jealous.
