**what goes on in vernons head**
odd weird stuff (funny looking people strange things) = OMG SOMEONE FROM "HER LOT"!!
to vernon anything weird and strange is something from "her lot"

It's obvious he assumes that anything strange has to do with Witches or Wizards but what the thread is about how he came to know about witches and Wizards.

Well, i think, if Petunia loved him, she should have told him. What is if someday a wizard or witch stands before the door? It would be unfair to poor Vernon  |

Wouldn't he think she was crazy ? What proof did she have ? Did he find out because they preformed magic in front of him ? Even if they did don't you think the potters might have gotten in trouble ?

Umm, I could say if HE really loved SHE he would believe her... xD
But: Vernon is not very clever, so maybe he just believed it... and maybe he met a wizard or witch before somewhere and has been convinced?! |

I wonder if they ever actually met... Like if Vernon and Petunia went to their wedding or something or if Lily and James went to Vernon and Petunia's wedding. It could have happened with enough pressure from their parents. And Petunia and Lily did love each other, Petunia was just very jealous. Maybe Lily came to visit Dudley when he was first born... or something like that. I can't imagine that they never saw each other for all those years because despite the jealousy they were sisters who loved each other. And Petunia did know a bit about what was going on. When she heard those reports about Sirius Black escaping from Azkaban, she turned to the window. Harry thought it was just her being gossipy or something, but really it could have been that Petunia knew what a threat it was. Afterall, when Harry told them thaths godfather, an escaped convict, wanted to hear from him, they accepted that reason wuth no questions asked. And Petunia knew enough to want to wish Harry good luck in DH beacuse she knew what he was up against, but couldn't bring herself to say it. The factthat she knew what he was up against makes me think that she did know more about the wizarding world than she let on, and if she knew more, then I think Vernon must have known more, too.... otherwise he'd probably have rolled his eyes at the whole godfather thing.
