malfoy orginally wanted to be friends with potter
if potter had execpted that friendship it would be very likely that potter would have been in Slythern
because he begged the sorting hat not to put him there even though the sorting hat thought he would be good in Slythern
how would the story have been changed
i know that he wouldnt join voldemort because voldemort killed his parents
]but would he have seeked revenge from voldemort like he did sirus when he thought that sirus betrayed his parents
or would he join him anyway
what do you think

Draco did originally want to be friends with Harry.

Lucky for us Hagrid was the first person he remembers ever being nice to him. Draco made the mistake of being rude about Hagrid... it all reminded Harry of Dudley at his worst.

In my opinion, the only way Harry would have considered befriending Draco was if he had been nice to Harry first... and even then, his spoiled attitude and arrogance still probably would have made Harry want to turn down his hand of friendship.

If Harry had, for some insane reason, did end up as freinds with Draco... there would not have been much of a story. Well, there might have been, but it would have been very different.

i doubt... because..hagrid had already told him in diagon alley that slytherin was not the place for harry...

just a minute friendship with someone could not change the real harry... he always would have valued bravery more... friendship more.. and humanness more...

and malfoy just wanted to be friends with him because he was famous...

tahst it... harry must have soon realised he was not THE friend for him at some point of time....

well i dont know about that really, since draco wasnt unfriendly at all the first time they met, as a matter of fact he was friendly in his own way until harry rejected his friendship

i think harry would always have seen his arrogant and spoiled side which he would immediately compare with that of dudley and be automatically disgusted, so they couldnt have ever been friends

He was friendly to Harry, but he called Hagrid an oaf and acting very arrogant.

That's what I said in my original post. Confused

there you go then, he saw his arrogance and meanness so he couldnt be his friend

and that wasnt what you said, you admitted the posibility of them being friends in an odd case, i said that i dont think there's any possibility of them having been friends with malfoy's attitude

Thank you for taking my words out of context and twisted them all around. Confused
I know now that I have to be completely specific.
I was just asnwering the original poster's question.
I'll rephrase it....
I dont think their friendship would last past five minutes, but if, say, Petunia had been nicer to Harry and treated him equal to that of Dudley, then the story would have been very different.

iz ok... I only meant they could be friends... in, like, an alternate universe where Petunia was kind to him or something like that. That's what I mean by "insane." And even then, i dunno.

If Potter did accept Malfoy's friendship I believe the story would have been the same except for the fact that Harry would be a jerk, Slytherin would win the Quidditch cup every year, Malfoy may either do one of the two things...
1. Turn Harry into Voldemort, or try to, around book 6/7.
2. Help Harry, after all, he starts to see how evil Voldemort can be and I don't think he like being around it. He also feels tempted when Dumbledore asks him to join his side.

I was wondering... okay, what If Petunia had been nice to Harry? Like, what if she was really upset when Lily died because of all the years of fighting and decided to treat Harry and Dudley as equals? Then, Harry would possibly end up as friends with Draco... but, Harry would still have the reputation of once being the baby that Voldemort wasn't able to destroy. Lucius might really have been able to use this to his advantage. Either Harry would get double-crossed or Voldemort would embrace Harry as his greatest Death Eater... because Voldemort would still eventually figure out about his scar and ability to seep into Harry's mind... Harry would end up Voldemort's pet... maybe end up brainwashed into thinking he is Voldemort's Golden Child, instead of Dumbledore's Man. Weeeeeird thought.
The one flaw in this is that... if Petunia treated tehm qually, tehn Dudley wouldn't be as spoiled... no more so than Harry. There would be no ned for 30-something present every year. So Harry would still probably end up friends with Ron over Draco no tmatter what. Unless Petunia spoils Harry rotten out of guilt for losing her sister and his mother... ooooh, now I want to write a fanfic, lol.

I don't know about all that...

Snape was never going to be a fan of HP due to his dislike for James. He stuck around for Lily... but he clearly was NOT a fan of Harry.

As far as the rest of it... well... I'm glad it didn't work out that way. Laughing

I don't think that Harry would ever choose a friend like Malfoy... Even if he had not listened to Draco talking in such a bad way for Hagrid or Ron... Malfoy is one of those people who take advantage of every situation to show their bad side... In my opinion, the fact that Harry was grown in an unfriendly environment has helped him to choose the best friends anyone could ever have so he would understand immediately what kind of people Malfoy is... As for Voldemort, even some Death Eaters try to avoid him, I don't think that Harry would be a Death Eater... He's too good, carrying and friendly for that...

If he really wanted to be friends, he would have apoligized for what he said in Diagon Alley that day.

Ha, Intresting...

I would think this would lead to voldermort being alble to retirive the philosiphers stone in the first book, Mafoy's not going to help him out in stopping voldermort, and without ron and hermione...he's done for.

Who would apologise? Malfoy? That seems a bit insane to me...
