yes it does

COS p.96 (us ed. papper back)

earlier on the page talking about Colin:

'He was clutching what looked like an ordinary Muggle camera, and the moment Harry looked at him, he went bright red.'

further down the page:

"And a boy in my dormitory said if I develop the film in the right potion, the pictures'll move"

there you go Smile

that gets less offensive the older you get love. and the camera thing is a great question, i never considered they would have something different.

although in the movie when the weasleys take the photo in your siggy didnt the photographer have an old camera with the drape and hand held flash? i know that was just the director's view on it but it kind of makes sense since wizards seem to be set back centuries in technology.

i wonder why that is.. i mean wouldnt that annoy say hermione who probably had a laptop at home but still had to write with a quill on parchment. you would think that the two worlds were closer together.

and the internet, the trio is constantly sneaking into the forbidden section of the library... when they could just google it. i dont mean to make fun, but is it odd to anyone else that none of the muggleborn noticed the extreme difference?

I wsn't offended at all. Just annoyed because he didn't believe the id was real.

Maybe the photographer in the GoF movie was using a wizarding camera.... and hey, why are we trying to figure out the validity of a movie, those things aren't canon, especially not GoF.

Remember that the books take place during the nineties, where computers were fun, but google didn't even exist until 1996 and didn't become the search engine we know it as until 1998. Hermione starts Hogwarts in 1991, when most families didn't have comptuers, let alone laptops. In fact, most of my papers were still handwritten and not typed. Hermione barely even spends time at home during breaks, she wouldn't even know to ask for a computer.

Another idea about the old camera is that it might be the Weasly family camera. Since they are poor and the wizarding world has a different idea of valuable adtiques, it might be all that they can afford. They could have just asked some one to that a picture of the family.

That is just an idea of the avenue that may have been taken in the minds of the movie makesrs.

Wizards are years back in technology because Magic interferes with it. =/
They get a long fine without technology, the reason why wizards believe muggles developed great amounts of technology is because they don't have magic. Also, I do believe under age muggle borns use some sort of technology at home because they can't do magic. =)

I was looking through the Lexicon today, and I noticed an entry for magical cameras. There are apparently some special magical cameras.

A photographer at Flourish and Blotts was taking pictures of Gilderoy Lockhart for the Daily Prophet. The camera emitted a cloud of purple smoke with each flash (CS4).

Bozo, Rita Skeeter's photographer, also has one (GF18).

Colin Creevey's camera is apparently a Muggle device, although since it works at Hogwarts, it must not have any electrical parts. During Colin's first year he took plenty of pictures of Harry, much to Harry's chagrin. Although the camera is non-magical, the pictures he takes do move because he develops them in a special potion (CS6) Alternatively, the camera itself may be a Muggle camera but enchanted to work taking magical photographs.
