I'll have to ask an anthropologist sometime Laughing I hear it's good with fava beans and a nice chianti.

I don't like pork much either. It usually tastes really salty to me, and most times I've had it it was dry; dry meat doesn't get along with me. If I have poultry it has to be dark meat, unless the white meat has really retained moisture well. And my steaks and burgers have to practically still be mooing. I see E. coli in my future.

I do like vegetables and fruit too - I have a love affair with blood oranges. And I like vegetables as long as they're fresh and not mushy ones out of a can.

i dont know why people are vegans... unless they find meat horrible-tasting... which i doubt since meat tastes good

Health reasons: no meat is bad. you need meat. meat is very nourishing
Diet reasons: no meat = loss of hair... what a pretty sight
Animal welfare reasons: but isnt that nature? there is a predator and a prey. as long as you dont hurt the animal....
meat is dirty: well, we need dirt in our body... otherwise our immune system would be suffering from inactivity

by not eating meat,, you can reverse heart disease
women who dont eat dairy or meat -- have a 90% less chance of breast cancer

and they way that they kill and treat the animals in the slaughterhouse is most deffinetly hurting the animal.

Some meats are bad for you . . . esp. if you fry it like bacon or sausage.
Also, there are ways to get nurtients besides meat, and your body will see to it that you do . . . That's why people crave things.

I've been a vegetarian for 12 years, and I still have a full head of thick here. Again, there were plenty of ways to get nutrients outside of eating meat.

It is natural for animals on a higher level of the food chain to eat animals that are below them. It is not natural for people to be so arrogant that they breed animals by the thousands using hormones to fatten them up faster, kill and slaughter them using freaking machines, then put them in freezers, and eat them only if it strikes their fancy before the meat goes bad.

Nobody in here said that meat is dirty? Did any one say meat is dirty? Plants grow out of the dirt with bugs, slugs, and worms crawling all over them for crying out loud. Dirt wasn't the issue.

I don't want to get into any fights with any vegetarians on here or anything, but in my opinion I see animals as being here for us to eat and survive so we can dominate Earth. I also agree 100% with DM and Ginny how using the excuse because they're living things while plants live as well.

I know one vegetarian and she had this poster or something like that, and it said something about how chicken has poop in it or something. At first it kind of grossed me out, but then I was like, you know what? I don't really care, it tastes good, I don't have too much time more to live, so screw it. I'm gonna eat it and feel good and enjoy myself.

Not saying vegetarians aren't fun to hang out with, because they are.

mmm i dunno about dominate the earth, but i agree in the fact that just as other animals need meat, we do too

the real problem here to me is very simple

human being are a plague nowadays, the most dangerous of all for this planet, so we have to consume exceeding ammounts of meat, therefore we have to kill too many animals (never mind those which are killed for other purposes)

the good thing is that ppl are smart so they also help animals reproduce and, specially lately, people are more conscious and trying to protect all species

but the truth is this wouldnt happen if the human population wouldnt be so inmense, i dont think we are suppossed to be these many

now who should be the first to die? Twisted Evil

I would like to know your reasoning on why you feel humans are here to dominate the earth. I don't claim to know the reasons anything exists on this planet, but I can say by the force nature uses to expunge us, we aren't here to dominate shit. This planet makes us its bitch and has no qualms of doing so.

What about osteoporosis and other diseases and issues that eating dairy and meat do help with?
Drinking red wine is also supposed to be good for your heart, but I don't fancy sacrificing my liver for that one.
Plenty of foods have positive and negatives... just last year they were asking us not to eat spinach.

I depends on where you get your meat from. Some slaughterhouses are awful, while others are less horrific.

Cows are so sweet and docile, it seems a shame to kill such a wonderful animal that poses no threat to us... I think I'll switch to eating bears and lions. Smile

Yeah, but the original argument was about the irony of my friend not killing animals because they are living, but so do Plants. Also, Just because Plants don't have brains or nerves it's okay to take there life ? It's okay to kill a plant just so we can eat its root ? I don't know why but people just keep adding into the argument how people force them to eat meat and how cows have brains. I'm not debating the fact that plants can feel pain or not, I'm debating weather or not it's okay to take the life of another living thing just because it can't think for itself.

From what I've been reading recently I halfway think this is turning into a battle. I respect both sides, as long as they both respect my decision, so instead of arguing over what's right and wrong, we need to just have a compromise and let people do their own thing.

So if a human is brain dead why do we use machines to keep them alive ? Why not just kill them ? After all...they to are only "living by definition".

but harvard, yale , dartmouth, and one other ivy league school(i cant remember) all proved that drinking milk dosent help with osteoporosis, and soy milk and broccoli are great sources of calcium! Very Happy

Becuase, Human life is much more valued in the world then plant life, seeing as humans are the ones who kill or help keep alive animals, plants, and other humans.
