Do you think Dobby should have died. I thought Rowling did this to add the conflict to the characters. I was truley devastated, MAN LOOK AT MY NAME DOBBYTHEHOUSEHOLD ELF. I was surprised they didn't kill Kreacer off. He was a hell of a importance, talking about regulous and his adventure. He was a main help to the plot. But come on kill dobby, F***.
Dobby did as much as possible to PROTECT HARRY.

Wormtail NOW. He owe harry his debt for protecting from sirius and remus, (who both by the way died,(COME ON ROWLING!) ) He just did not attack harry but dobby.

See my poll about who was most important

i think Dobby's death was a masterstroke by JKR. Think about it, Dobby would have done anything to save Harry and his friends at any time. it would have been the way he wanted to go. Also, it showed that no matter what creature you are your not exempt from Voldemort and his followers. Just look at hedwig.

Secondly, Kreacher shouldnt have died, i liked his character in OotP, it was such a stark contrast to Dobby. When he told his tale to the Trio, i truly felt sorry for him, he's had a hard life. Let him be.

Finally, i was extremely disappointed with the way Wormtail repaid his debt to Harry, i thought he would have come good or at least got killed for trying to help Harry, not to have his own magical hand kill him in a moment of hesitance.

Wormtail never owed Harry a debt. Not technically. The concept of "life debts" are fanmade, a theory that took on a life of it's own. The hand killed Wormtail because he hesitated, and Voldemort made the hand to kill him if he faltered in his allegiance to him.

Wormtail did owe Harry a debt, JKR even said so, think about it, Harry saved wormtail from a certain death from Moony and Padfoot, it works the same as Snape owed James a life debt cause James stopped him from going to the shrieking shack to see Moony in his werewolf form. In both cases, it was possible that neither would die because of it, but it adds to the same thing. It was one of the reasons why snape hated Harry so much, He looked like james, he acted noble like James and he was James son, getting saved from the person you loathe the most can do that to a person.

Ginny is correct. Life debt is more of an abstract concsciencious idea and not at all a magical bond in the HP serires. DD has an uncanny sense of a person's true self, and he called out Wormtail's true colors when he talked to Harry about Wormtail owing him a life-debt. Even through all of the terrible things that Wormtail did, he had a conscience. DD knew that his conscience would out him in a situation when Harry woulf need his help. This is what Jo said about life debts:

Q: Does Malfoy owe Harry a debt?

JKR: That's a great question and a lot of people wanted to know that. When Dumbledore said to Harry, Voldemort won't want a close associate who is in your debt, I wasn't implying by that there was any kind of magical bond there. It was more that Dumbldore's extensive wisdom and knowledge of human nature, he knew as Harry later thinks in book seven, he knew that Pettigrew would react a certain way to having saved his life. ... He's weak, fundamentally weak. Pettigrew is a very weak character. He's not someone I like at all. He's a weak person and he likes to gravitate to people who are stronger. Dumbledore is right. Pettigrew had an impulsive mercy... would Malfoy e in Harry's debt? I think the very worst burden Harry could have put Malfoy under was this one, that Malfoy has to feel any kind of gratitude. So I tried to show that slightly in the epilogue when they look slightly at each other and there's a, "Hi. It's so embarrassing, you saved my life. No one will ever let me forget it." I think, does he owe him a debt, probably not. I think Malfoy would go back to being an improved version of what he was but we shouldn't expect him to be a really great guy any time soon.
