It's not just "Cartoons" it's Japanese animation and what do you mean all "worked up"? It's just our type of show.

I happen to be a fan and like said before its not just cartoons. These shows have deep plots and excellent writing and drawing. You just gotta get out there and watch and read different ones to see what ya like. Me I started on Cowboy Bebop in middle school, excellent story and superbly drawn, wonderful music, I could go on and on lol.
Id rather watch Blood+ then Friends or the Hills lol 
Just all in what ya like I guess.

Kevin, To being with you shouldn't have posted what you posted. That started the whole fight and Bery I would expect better from you.  Now stop senseless fighting and be mature about whats going on. If you don't like the subject then don't talk about it. IF you want to post your opinion about something don't just say it "sucks" state your reason why.

Lol, and I bet a special few in Japan get worked up over American cartoons.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and frankly, I don't give a damn what people think. I like some shows, hate a few others. In my opinion a lot of anime is completely overrated and a genuinely good story is extremely hard to come across.
This is because some ideas are overrused through different series, or are drawn out into hundreds of episodes by repeating the same basic plot with different character names. This is why I enjoy the shorter shows Princess Tutu(Though, characteric to Shoujo Magical Girl genres, each episode has the same basic plot with a twist for every conflict), Hellsing or Please Save my Earth. Honestly I wouldn't reccomend PSME as an anime. It was at least 15 volumes of written comic condensed into 6 episodes.
Now, I'm moving onto the shows that are, in my opinion, overrated.
First, let's start off with Yuyu Hakusho. This is what you get when you combine Naruto with DBZ. You get a bunch of teens with magic powers, throw in a few demons and enter them in mindless tournaments. Over 100 episodes of fighting monsters, having close calls and managing to make it out without dying. Wee.
And DBZ, we all know this show and how it was repetitive. The basic plot for every saga went as follows: Threat appears. Goku fights it. Goku is defeated and is killed. Family finds dragonballs and brings him back. Goku fights again, realizes he is overmatched and does something drastic that kills him again.
There's over 200 episodes in DBZ alone, and at least 100 more for GT and the original DB. Half the series was made of powering up, the other half with grunts and yelling. And in between those grunts, we had 5 episode staring contests. Wee x2.
Naruto. GASP MORGAN HATES NARUTO! Yes, I hate it. Honestly, Sakura is the only character I like, because she makes a huge character change that no one appreciates. Meanwhile, the series is drawn out into 200 episodes filled with tournaments, flashbacks, flashbacks OF flashbacks and a pedophiliac demon. Not my kind of show. 
Yes, Anime is just a bunch of cartoons. I agree with that, but why do people watch sports? Soap operas? Horror movies? Reality shows? SITCOMS!?
It's all the same. People do it because they find what they ware watching interesting. Remember when you were a little kid, and scrambled to watch the newest Blues Clues or Zaboomafoo?
