Stupefy is red.

Expelliarmus is scarlet:

Both of them swung their wands above their heads and pointed at their opponent; Snape cried: "Expelliarmus!" There was a dazzling flash of scarlet light and Lockhart was blasted off his feet: He flew backward off the stage, smashed into the wall, and slid dowm it to sprawl on the floor.

CoS, Charpter 11: The Dueling Club, Page 190, American Edition.

I assume that since there are only 7 colors in the spectrum, varying shadees of those seven colors are quite common.

But the spell had the wrong effect anyway (in CoS anyway) -- the whole point of the spell is for the opponent to lose his wand and Lockhart was just blasted down but his wand remained in his hand... Rolling Eyes

No, he lost his wand. Further down the page Lackhart says this:

"Well, there you have it!" he said, tottering back onto the platform. "That was the Disarming Charm -- as you see, I've lost my wand -- ah, thank you, Miss Brown -- yes, an exellent idea to show them that, Professor Snape, but if you don't mind my saying so, it was very obvious what you were aout to do. I I had wanted to stop you it would have been only too easy -- however, I thought it would be instructive to let them see . . ."

I think that any curse, given with the right force and depending on the abilities of the receiving wizard, could knowck a wizard off of his feet. Snape, in his hate for Lockhart threw the curse hard. Lockhart, who is not a talented wizard in the least, received the blow worse than the average wizards would. That is my theory at least.[/i]

In the movie it was blasted from his hand, too.

I meant in the movie. In the book he obviously loses his wand -- as I said, that's the whole point of the spell.

And Ginny: notice when he falls down, the wand is still in his hand.

At about 1:24 Lockhart loses his wand. At about 1:25 you can actually see the wand in the air.
Go to exactly 1:29 and you will see he does not have his wand.

As Ginny said . . . He very clearly did not have his wand afet being struck. He had it back in his hand when he was walking back toward Snape, though.

The camera turns to Hermione and teh boys. At that point Lockhart could have gotten his wand.

Interesting. Every time I watched the movie I wondered why he still had his wand, but now in this youtube clip I see he didn't. So I rechecked the DVD and it's now I see it's obvious that there's some kind of filming error:

As he flies through the air, the wand indeed leaves his hand. As he lands on the floor, the wand is in his hand! (you can't see it on the youtube clip because the sides of the screen are cut off). Then it flashes to the crowd, and when it flashes back to him, once again the wand is gone!

Check it out and confirm. If you can't see it, I'll put up a screenshot.

You're right. It was in his hand when he landed.
