well there were many circumstances why he had to leave. Having killed DD and noone knew that he had to do it because DD asked him to. And before he died he became the Headmaster of Hogwarts and appointed someone else for the post.
Didn`t Harry tell everyone about Snape? Confused

The fact that he left, though, is important. It shows that the curse still held on tight. The fact that something bad happened to him (died) is also noteworthy that he died. Especially since NONE of the other teachers died. Harry later told people what Snape had done, but that was AFTER Snape died. Snape died with the knowledge that everyone hated him. That was all part of the curse.

Wait someone DID die. Wasn`t it Quirrel? And Snape died just like a year after he stopped being DADA teacher. Lupin just left though because Snape told everyone. Confused

Something bad happened to all of them in Harry's seven years. Quirrell died, Lockhart lost his memory, Lupin was outed as a werewolf, the real Moody was kidnapped and tortured, the fake Moody was given the Kiss, Umbridge was dragged off by the cantaurs, Snape died, and the Amycus Carrow was bound up by McGonagall and probably ended up in Azkaban.

I was discussing that with Black, that's why I didn't address your question directly... No, I don't think he lifted it.

quote: "Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwars" is led by an entirely new headmaster as well as a new DADA teacher. That position is now as safe as the other teaching posts at Hogwarts, since Voldemort's death broke the jinx that kept a DADA professor from remaining for more than a year....

^ Voldemort didn't lift it, though. It lifted when Voldemort died. Spells and enchantments that a wizard makes get lifted when he dies. Remember why DD binded Harry at the end of HBP? Harry knew that DD was dead, because the spell lifted.

It is definitely a curse. JK even confirmed it when she said it ended after Voldemort died.

Ideas?
Kingsley Maybe?

I think it lifted by itself when Voldemort died. Like when DD died and Harry knew he was dead because he was able to move again. I don't think anyone had to lift it because it lifted byt itself when Voldemort died.

well, first off you're saying it like its a bad thing when 12 years in azkaban can turn anyone crazy, specially someone who's innocent

then, i said he was immature for his age in the series, one of the consequences of staying 12 years in that awful prison, and as he was innocent can anyone blame him for the fact that he didnt mature properly as he should have? i think his situation was totally understandable, poor siri Sad

well yes I know, i know. Just that "matured normally" sounds really awful and I don` tthink he was THAT bad. Very Happy
But yes we could see in the 3rd movie when he`s yelling "I did my waiting! 12 years of it! In Azkaban!" how it really afected him. And later how much he`s afraid of Dementors. No wonder he`s reckless and wants to strech his legs. I agree, yes.

i wouldnt say that he is afraid of dementors, i think he was just afraid of them in book 3 because he knew they were there to take his soul, who wouldnt be afraid of that?

well I was talking about the 3rd. But I DO think he was afraid later on, becasue he have seen what they do to people, felt them. 12 years is a really long time. Seed despare everywhere... horrible.

I don`t know maybe. But you could see fear in his eyes when Snape only mentioned them.
