The final place to complete this story was where Harry wound up next to Luna in the Great Hall. Ginny who had chosen Harry, should have been at his side, not ‘leaning on her mother’s shoulder.’ Remember that when Harry was grieving over Dumbledore’s body Ginny went and comforted him, he should have been returning the favor as equals. Additionally, she should have either been in Dumbledore’s office with Hermione and Ron showing her final assent to equality with those two in Harry’s life. Or be waiting outside Dumbledore’s office. ‘As Harry, Ron and Hermione descended the spiral staircase he was shocked to see Ginny waiting for him. She smiled weakly at him and stated, “Others may not notice you missing…” ‘. This should have been the transition scene from Harry mover and shaker in the magical world, to Harry husband of Ginny and father to 3 children. The prophecy finally completed, Harry was now free to enjoy life without the burden of being ‘the boy who lived’.
no seriously......GINNYS BROTHER JUST FREAKING DIED! ginny needs to be there for her mother no matter how much she wants to see harry. and this whole series revolved around the trio and it ended with the trio looking at a brighter future with no voldemort! it would of been weird if it had ginnny there! she didnt go througth the whole ordeal the trio had to go through! it would of made no sense if jo ended it with harry coming gown the stares and facing ginny. maybe that did happen but she chose to end it earlier because it makes mroe sence to have the trio looking to a brighter future. _________________

I agree with CrAzY. I loved that Jo had the trio in this final scene that we see at Hogwarts. It fits great for me. It doesn't make sense to say that Ginny being there would transition Harry to husband of Ginny, because it wasn't like that at all. Harry and Ginny barely even had a relationship yet. They still had to build that, which we all know that they did in the gap.
This scene ended something that was both beautiful and dreadful for the trio. They were leaving behind their time spent at Hogwarts together, and Ginny spent little time with them at Hogwarts. _________________

As we already discuss in another thread about Ginny's look, Harry was not attracted by her beauty, but by her forceful personality. She might look a bit ductile when she was near her mother, but actually, she was quite a remarkable person.
Ginny was not just a bit look like Lily, but she's independent, forceful, confident and not afraid to express her opinion. She's bold but not reckless. She could lie easily to her mother forhelping the trio and the twins, for not making more trouble. I could tell Harry highly appreciate that.
After COS, she grew up a lot from it. The event didn't weaken her character a bit. On the contrary, it made her stronger. We didn't know much about her in POA and GOF because Harry was under a death threat and then too busy to tackle the tasks. Besides, he was totally into Cho in the 4th year. It seems like Rowling was in Harry's shoes so she described things almost from his point of view.
But Rowling always reminded us she's around. She was with the Weasley in Egypt. She went to the Yule ball. She was at Grimmauld Place at the beginning of OotP. She even did the housekeeping with the trio. She had the sense to slam the lid of a sinister muscial box. She introduced Luna to Harry and Neville. She replaced Harry as the seeker. She persuaded Harry he's no harm to everyone, and the experience of possessed by Voldy was something no one could ever share and understand. She talked to Harry in the library at Easter. She figured out a way to help Harry to get pass Umbridge, so that he could talk to Sirius, which Harry felt really grateful. And she's the one of the DA members who went to the Dep. of mysteries.
They had been through a lot together before HBP.
The way Ginny entered Harry's room in HBP looked like they were really very close friends. So close that they could completely relax themselves and almost feel like brothers and sisters. It's easy to express your opinion truthfully without any pretending in such a circumstance. Then Fleur got in, Harry pulled his blanket. Obviously, Fleur wasn't one of their sibling group. That's what Rowling tried to tell us.
At the end, Ginny wasn't with the trio. Well, I could fully understand. Ginny was the only daughter of Mrs Weasley. They always seems very close. It's Ginny's duty to comfort her mum. No one would pull Ginny away from her poor mum at that time, not even Harry, the hero.
I just think it's pity that Rowling didn't picture how Harry and Ginny rekindled their love.
Ok, it doesn't matter, maybe we can write some fanfic for them. Ha-ha, see who can make up the best one.

^ Harry and Ginny didn't need to "rekindle" there love. They weren't middle aged people who had once dated in high school. They were very much "in love," for lack of a better expression, for the duration of DH. They just couldn't be together during that time. _________________

Good point, why not send an email to them and get them change. I just borrow the term from them!
Here we go again with the lack of character development. Ginny who was once nervous around Harry (and who supposedly never gave up on him-see later chapters) gains the sudden confidence of a rock star. Also notice that Harry didnt pay any special attention to Ginny. This was the moment where JK could start the development of the ship to make it look realistic. She missed the opportunity and drops the Ginny bomb on us on later chapters which leaves readers wondering what the hell happened? Any ship that does this is not written correctly or maybe it was what JK intended (here we have the love potion speculation, where evil slughorn made Harry fall for Ginny in order to distract him thus causing what happened at the end of HBP-the will and wont theme) This kind of relationship doesnt have any precedent at all in English Literature.
This was a bomb shell only to people who did not read Order of the Phoenix. At Grimmauld Place, Ginny greets Harry brightly and, for the first time ever, without her face color matching her hair. The reason for this comes out in Hogsmeade.
Sometime during the fall term of Ginny's third year, Hermione suggested that she try loosening up and being herself around Harry, and maybe even try looking towards other boys. Acting the shy, blushing little sister of Ron was not going to get her noticed as a potential girlfriend by Harry.
So, at Christmas, Ginny agreed to go to the Yule Ball with Neville. When Ron and Harry were having trouble getting dates, Ron suggested Ginny go with Harry. Ginny was obviously distraught that she could have gone to the ball with Harry and missed her chance. (Credit should be given to her for sticking to her commitment to Neville and not ditching him for a single date with her lifelong crush.)
At the ball, Ginny met Michael Corner and began dating him shortly thereafter. The two were dating for over a year. This relationship probably helped her confidence tremendously, which got her to be more outgoing around Harry. Indeed, by Christmastime the next year, she unabashedly called Harry out for stupidly isolating himself from everyone who wanted to help him.
Ginny wasn't shy around Harry by the start of Half-Blood Prince. Why should she be? She's got a boyfriend and a life of her own now. She's growing up.
Hermione wrote:
Ginny is really mad at Fleur. But she comes off as arrogant when she makes this comments. Maybe it is because she is jealous of Fleur's beauty because inside she really is insecure. How could someone like this be the life partner for Harry?
Or maybe it's because of Fleur's grating, snobbish personality. Harry got a taste of that himself in Goblet of Fire, when Fleur called him "this little boy."
Hermione wrote:
After this they discuss the Tonks scheme. Hermione acts as jealous as Ginny when Harry mentions her abilities. After this Ginny scornfully snaps at Harry. This is again Ginny's manipulative nature. Harry instantly wishes he hadnt spoken. Ginny and Harry are not equals. They dont even have compatible personalities. In a Ginny/Harry relationship Ginny would wear the pants. The only common bond they share is Voldermort (and that isnt a good bond to base a relationship of) For Ginny Harry is a prize. She is a fan girl.
What makes you think it was just Ginny's comment that made Harry wish he hadn't spoken? Hermione said, "Not you as well," when Harry defended Fleur. Harry probably didn't like being double-teamed by two of his friends! And Ginny hasn't been a fan girl since the Yule Ball.
Hermione wrote:
After this Mrs. Weasley asked Ginny to help her with lunch.
"Im talking to this lot! said, Ginny Outraged.
This gives me a great mental picture of a self-centered teenage girl. I dont really see any similarities with Lily.
It's not as if Ginny was annoyed at the thought of having to help her Mom. She would just rather spend her time around the Trio than Fleur, and who could blame her?

Our Analysis now takes us to Fred & George's shop. What I find really interesting about Half Blood Prince is that love potions play a very very important role(Why would JK draw so much attention to Love Potions?). I find it intriguing that Ginny is introduced in this chapter right after the mention of them.
I'll admit that I was expecting a subplot about Ginny and love potions myself at this point, but upon reflection it doesn't make sense. Pansy mentions that "a lot of boys like her," which implies they liked her last year, before we see all these love potions. Ginny attracts boys due to her looks and personality, not potions.
Hermione wrote:
Ginny's reputation precedes her. Yes! She has finally moved on. (Thats what we believe anyway) When I first read this, I didnt really pay attention to the quantity of guys she went out with (5? Would someone who never gave up on Harry do this? How can you sincerely be with someone without caring for them? Is this something that Harry's soulmate would do?) because I was too happy for her and her newfound maturity.
Her reputation precedes her, or Ron's rumor spreading precedes her? Ron doesn't like to see his sister going out with anyone (save Harry,) and even appears to almost calls his sister a slut after he walked in on her and Dean. I think this dialogue reveals more about Ron than it does Ginny.
Hermione wrote:
So Ginny dumped Micheal Corner and Dean is the rebound. We aren't the only ones who take notice of Ginny's dating "speed"
Yes, Dean appears to be the rebound guy. By the time Christmas rolls around, they appears to be quite sick of each other, but neither seems willing to admit it yet. Not really a damning criticism of Ginny.
Hermione wrote:
We can pararell this to HBP.
If Harry had not dedicated so much time to Ginny maybe he would have stopped Draco. If he had done the same he did in this chapter maybe Dumbledore wouldnt be dead.
I realize that the original post was made before the final book was released, but it is now obvious that this is false. It was not Harry's business to find out what Draco was up to. In fact, Dumbledore and Snap were well aware of his mission and were trying to ensure that no one other than Dumbledore would be hurt by it.
In addition, Harry's feelings for Ginny were slowly building throughout the book, even if he and the reader weren't completely aware of it. First, there was his annoyance of Ginny running off to find Dean on the Hogwart's train. He attributed this to simply being used to her presence at the Burrow.
The second hint was his smelling the love potion in Slughorn's classroom. One of the scents reminded him of the Burrow. When he caught the scent again later, he turned to find Ginny. This made have advanced the idea in some readers' minds (such as my own) that Ginny was using love potions. In reality, it signified Harry's budding attraction to Ginny. Note that Hermione caught herself before telling everyone the last thing she smelled from the potion. Most likely, it was a scent heavily associated with Ron.
The third hint was in the first Hogsmeade visit of the year. Ginny told the group she and Dean might meet up with them. When she didn't, Harry was very annoyed. He and the reader might have figured that he was simply having a very bad day and this was nothing more than an extra poke in the ribs. In reality, jealously towards Dean was setting in, to be fully unleashed in the deserted corridor...
Ginny and Harry are perfect, thank you very much! _________________ Huge Harry/Ginny fan!
