well, I mostly agree with you, except that you didn`t feel sorry for snape, as I did. lol
As for Snape being selfish and in Dark Arts up to his ears - that`s just the way he was. and hey, he was brilliant in Dark arts and Potions. He didn`t understand Lily and Lily didn`t understand him.
Snape WAS a difficult character. that`s why he`s so interesting. Wink

But Poor James?? Pleease! Liking someone doesn`t give him rights to take someone elses pants off Laughing

You mean James didn't have the right to defence himself after Snape hurt his face? James shouldn't get mad after Snape called Lily "mudblood"?

James and Sirius should let him join them every full moon night when he was lurking in the shadow?

err... no. If you `d remember the book it was James who approached Snape.
and I didn`t say anything about joining them, I don`t think they should`ve started hanging out together. They were too different. Why would you even say that?

Nah, James felt annoyed because Snape kept tailing them even after he saved him under the whomping willow. Snape didn't just blame Sirius for that, he also hated James and Lupin because he thought they were both in on it.

yeah well maybe i exaggerated a bit, they obviously understood each other in most of things, but in my opinion snape was missing a couple of ethic classes lol

of course i did feel sorry for him after harry watches the memory in 5th year, but the guy is not innocent by any means, so it's hard to for me to feel sorry for him in general

EDIT:

no, you're getting things wrong, in the memory harry sees in his 5th year james just made fun of snape because he was bored and that was very wrong, arrogant and quite mean of him, jo herself said that

and yeah, snape was quite the blind guy about many things, i dont understand why he insisted on blaming james and remus for the whomping willow episode, it's not as though he needed more reasons to dislike them than the ones he already had

Snape did a sectumsempra of James in the pensieve after Lily made James leave Snape alone. Then James came back with the levicorpus.

I don't like Snape. I hate the way he treated his students. He was so unfair. But I felt sorry for him because he had a poor childhood, and all the wrong choices he had made between dark arts and Lily.

He died in Harry's arms with the consolation of Lily's eyes. That part is very romantic. Much better than Moody, Lupin and Tonks' death!!!!!

well James hated Snape from the very first time they met. When Snape hoped that Lily is sorted in Slytherin. He didn`t even liked Lily then, or did he? Confused James and Sirius started all that hate thing.

Because James fell for Lily for a long long time. Lily was outstanding, brilliant in potion and transfigure and everything. She's a loyal person and ready to stand up for her friends.

James knew Lily befriended of Snape. They were playmates since they were children. They were very close.

James was such a jealous guy. He couldn't stop himself loving Lily nor did he stop hating Snape for the friendship, care and love he didn't have but he thought he deserved to have. Because he thought he hated dark arts and he was the best seeker in Hogwarts. Everyone thought he was cool. He was so certain that he was a better man than Snape.

But why didn't Lily lay eyes on him? Was she blind? His hunger for Lily's love burnt him and tortured him like a fire inside his heart. This drove him crazy. Crazy man did crazy thing.

Poor James!

i agree w/ you. though i think harry did finally understand in the later years. ihate when peepz bash james for being os mean to snape when really every dark arts voldermort hater would of done the same because at the time sev was 99% he as gunna be a death eater. so i dont blame james.

When you think about it, though, James and Sirius bullying Snape only reinforced his dislike for people with their particular viewpoint.

From what we can tell in the books, they started it, too. They began bullying him on the train because of the house he wanted to be in.

And in the words of Nietzche, "He who would fight with monsters beware, lest he become a monster himself. And when you gaze into the abyss the abyss gazes also into you." Being bullied first is no excuse for James to bully back. You win nothing by becoming like your enemy.
