It seems like she was dead. She never visited Harry. I wonder why. |

Agreed. Never once does Lily refer to Mary as her friend. In fact, Lily uses Mary's full name the first time mentioning her to Snape. If she was friends with Mary and friends with Snape, I hardly think a full name would be required, since you would think Snape would know Lily's friends. Especially since she knew who his new friends were.

I just want to know
1. what happened to Mary.
2. what happened to Lily's friends. She did have friends, didn't she?
If my best friend and her husband are dead and leaving a baby orphan, I would visit him as often as I can, or even adopt him if I or my family are capble of bringing him up. |

As far as we know Mary wasn't her friend, she is a secondary character used as a plot device.
James and Lily died after high school, so chances are they probably lost contact with some of their friends before their death, if not most. When they went into hiding they probably lost contact with even more of their friends. The war could have taken their toll on others.
After they were killed, Lupin didn't come looking for Harry, either. That was because Harry was sent to live with the Dursleys and the Dursleys didn't want to have anything to do with the wizarding world. They certainly wouldn't have entertained any of his parent's old friends. The Dursleys didn't even want Harry to know the wizarding world existed.

| I just think maybe most of Lily's friends were muggleborn. If they didn't get killed, they went hiding, flew all their way to Scotland, or Ireland or France, or even Australia. |
