I don't know whether you guys know it or not. It seems like, to the British, in their tradition, dying alone is an absolutely miserable thing. Nobody wants to die alone, where there's no one besides him, holding his hands, comforting him.
That's why Rowling let Snape died in Harry's arms, with the comfort from Lily's eyes. And that's why DD left the resurrection stone to Harry because he knew that there would be no one else around for Harry except his enemies.
However, I don't think the stone really works. It seems like it's only a kind of reflection of Harry's mind.
Well, how did the ghost knew what had happened to Harry and what would be going on? Listen to what they said, "You've been so brave." "You are nearly there." It seems they knew everything and could read Harry's mind. They looked so different from Nearly headless!

Well, after OotP, it should be obvious that Jo sees the dead as spirits that watch out for loved ones. The veil, as I have mentioned before in other threads, is a physical representation of death in Jo's eyes. The dead are unreachable, yet they are there "Lurking -- just out of site," to use the words of Luna. _________________
That is true... Though i never actually remember Harry thinking that i myself get words of encouragement from my freinds and the certainly cannot read my mind. And the spirits themselves were only giving Harry Encouragement... to push him further... to give him motivation... No i dont think they were reflection of harrys mind _________________ Wand: 10' Rowan with Phoenix feather core

It sounds very religious to me, their spirits lurking, like they are watching over us from heaven.
But if they were really the ones who loved their family, why would they drive their love ones mad, let them suffered from hopeless longing and ended up by killing themselves?
Well, Harry's an exceptional case. He knew he had to die like his mother to protect his lover and friends and all the rest. But what about the second Peverell brother? Why his wife wanted him to join her? If she is real. she would wish him to die in his old age, in his warm bed, with his children holding his hands, and grandchildren and even great grandchildren besides him.
That reminds me of Titanic, where Jack told Rose never gave up and she would die in her warm bed in the future.

Correct! However you want to see it, I think they were watching over Harry.

I don't think the Peverell brother's wife wanted him to die. He used the stone but realized that his wife couldn't truely return. She was but a sort of spirit (like James, Lily, Sirius, and Lupin) and therefore he killed himself in order to join her. _________________ It's Not Over!

First of all, Jo is religious, and she does let her religion affect her novels. Her religion is what got her through some very hard years of her life. It would have been almost impossible to leave her religious beliefs out of a series of seven books. She does it subtly and in the areas that she feels most passionately about. It works in the end.
second of all . . . The Peveralls' were obviously all a bit disturbed. We're talking about three guys who wanted to defeat death here.
The girl whom Cadmus brought back to life may very well have beseeched him to allow her to rest in peace and live his life in peace without her. Maybe he was too har-headed to listen. His longing to have her may have kept him blind to the realization that this lie he was trying to live was all wrong. _________________
yes , Jo realises dat we all need comforting wen we'r going to die. death is sumthin we all fear so we need courage to face it, like harry needed it like snape needed .........but sumtimes pple cant help dying alone. lik voldemort,
I don't know if there's anyone seen this interview before. Jo said that she wasn't there when her mother was dying because his father didn't want her and her sister remembered that and felt too sad(something like that). She regretted not being there.

It's a common belief that when a person goes to heaven, that person can watch over what is happening to their loved ones back on earth. So, assuming that Lupin, Sirius, and Harry's parents were in heaven, they were probably farmiliar with the events that were happening because they had seen them happen.

They looked different from Nearly Headless Nick because Nick has never passed on and is a full fledged ghost. Lupin, Sirius, James and Lily had already been to the other side and were being partially brought back, so they weren't "whole" ghosts. _________________ "Lily Angorian has a heart like a boiled stone."
