he's in pain Sad

yap.actually I think he's very calm.he's too calm.his life is really hard I mean he has lot of enemys and most of people considered him crazy for couple of times and Draco always abuses him and Snape hates him and Voldy tries to kill him and there were many lies about him in newspaper...I mean he's not a normal teenager cause he cant be.hir parents were killed when he was baby.then his best man was killed.he looses parts of his life one by one.and what does he do?no,he doesn't just jell on everybody or cries in his bed.he stands and he fights.and it's really amazing how does he deal with all problems in his life.

I don`t understand this also... It`s interesting, everybody who likes Harry knows to say why.... you know, thousand reasons;)
...but people which write they hate him, they don`t know write why.... I`m very curious about this `cause I can`t imagine reason why they feel it so... It`s really strange... Confused

Yes. Yes it is. But I can't really place it. It's easier to think of reasons to like something than it is to think of reasons for hate. But I just get that feeling.

Really, the only reasons I could like him is because we have the same eye color and birthday.

Meh, I guess hate is a bit too strong. Let's just say I greatly dislike him. (:

thats not true i could give you tons of reasons why i dislike the ppl i dislike in the books

you probably dislike him merely because he's the hero and appears all the time

also the fact that he has a lot of luck in dangerous situations, that he makes mistakes for acting too rashly and because of book 5

am i close??

I don't hate him, but he annoys me. A lot of it might simply be that he's a typical moody teenager. Sometimes he's fine, but sometimes he develops this really irritating martyr complex - thinking nobody understands what he's going through but he doesn't want anyone to help. Either accept the help or stop complaining. Life sucks, kid, get a band-aid.

And he seems to never get in serious trouble. He tends to get slap on the wrist type of punishments for things that deserve worse. The kid helped steal a car and all he got was a detention and Dumbledore's frowny face.

i would say he's anything but typical and you cant say he doesnt have good reasons to be moody

make sure that you dont confuse book with movie, because that only happened once, when they went to grimmauld place on christmas in book 5 and he had just find out that voldy could be possesing him, and frankly that is pretty hard to go through

when does he have the martyr complex?? be specific please

he never gets in serious trouble? are you seriously writing this words? what about all the times he almost died?

he hasnt done as much as the twins and the marauders have done and they didnt get expelled, did they?

Hmm.. maybe. I dunno. Like I said before, I often dislike the heroes or main characters anyway. This just may be the same situation. I just don't know why. Neutral I sound like a bloody hypocrit.

I didn't mean things he's done in the line of "saving the day," I mean getting in trouble as in being punished things. Part of that I'm sure is just the suspension of disbelief that goes along with a fantasy book.

well maybe but you really think he did more of that stuff than the twins and the marauders

also, he did have his fair share of detentions, but if jo would've had to write all of harry's detentions the books would've been called harry potter and the never ending rows of detentions lol

btw, i didnt mean anything personal or to insult with my speech, i hope u understand i become quite defensive when it comes to harry Embarassed

In general the kids in those books get off light compared to what would happen in the real world I think. Again, suspension of disbelief - or else book three would have been "Harry Potter and the Juvenile Detention Center." Laughing

I don't deny that the character in most respects is a great role model for kids. Obviously he's meant to be likeable, I'm just coming from the position of someone who rarely ever likes the main character/hero in the book. I'm always far more intrigued by side characters.

i actually thought the same thing, but then i wondered what happens if someone is expelled of school for doing something like flying a car or any kind of big prank

the only case of expulsion we know in the books is hagrid, he got his wand broken and couldnt use magic, but all that happened cause he was suppossedly a murderer

but if u get expelled for a big prank, breaking a wizard's wand seems too harsh and if that's not the case then what happens? do they have to go to other school? cause as far as we know there isnt another magical school in the whole UK, do they have to go to another country?

if that is the case, then it seems natural that it takes far more to get expelled from school than in the muggle world
