I'm sure some people would pay a lot if they could get it today before everyone else, if they had to money to do so.
The actual price is $35 without the discounts, so yeah I'd easily pay more than that if I could get it in my hands at this very moment. $50 at least, I'm sure some people out there with a lot of money would be willing to pay $100's of dollars if they are a fan. _________________
Do anyone honestly think booksellers won't make a profit on what is probably going to be the most popular book of 2007? I think not. They hvae offered discounts to get people to buy beforehand becasue they know that once the book is out, whatever happens in the book will be on the web within 10 minutes thus ruining the suprise for those who wait to buy when it's available. If booksellers wouldn't be making a profit, why sell the book?
If you read some of the posts above you, there are reasons why they are selling it.
The point is they are not going to make nearly as much as they could.
If they are selling it for $17, how much of that is going to Scholastic, Bloomsbury, Jo, and the companies that actually printed the books?
They are doing it to gain customer loyalty so that people come back to their stores and buy other things.
I have a great example several posts up about how this goes on all the time in retail on things people buy everyday. I'm not going to go over it all again but it's all here for you to get your question answered. _________________
