In chapter 17, Riddle says to Harry:

Quote:
...big, blundering Hagrid, in trouble every other week, trying to raise werewolf cubs under his bed, sneaking off to the Forbidden Forest to wrestle trolls...

What are werewolf cubs? I mean, aren't they just kids? Was Hagrid raising little kids under his bed? Confused

And as for the trolls - wouldn't Hagrid be more likely to try and teach them to speak English or something like that? Since when does he wrestle?

I'm not sure.

In his youth. I'm sure he thought it was fun.

In fact, if I went to Hogwarts and a fellow student was wrestling trolls, I would think thats was freakin' awesome!

I'm guessing they are the products of two werewolves who mated, perhaps while they were in their, erm.... cycle.

I don't think Hagrid sought out the trolls to wrestle... I doubt there were very many trolls out there in the forest to begin with. We don't know what Hagrid did in his youth, perhaps they had a wrestling team, lol. And I don't think he'd try to keep a troll as a pet, he's more into creatures that are more like animals, in my opinion.

jkrowling_bn: no... Riddle was telling lies about Hagrid, just slandering him

This was just where Tom was being ignorant or over exaggerated on both the the trolls and werewolf cubs(?).I wouldn't put it past Hagrid to try and smarten up or civilize trolls but there were no trolls in the forbidden forest so Hagrid could not have attempted that(while he was at school).Werewolves do not have cubs J.k has said it herself that riddle was being silly(maybe silly wasn't the exact word but can't remember). And he was trying to make Hagrid sound like a big bafoon to Harry so he probably would have said anything.
