So what would happen if the someone went to be sorted who had nothing to believe in? What would happen then, would they just sit for eternity on that little stool, waiting for the sorting hat to tell them where they should be?
(That was kind of random) _________________

No, it is completely impossible to not value any of those traits. Bravery, cleverness, power, loyalty, hard-work, even pure-blood... JKR covered a nice variety of traits to choose from. _________________

I do think Hermione really would have been sorted in Ravenclaw, but that wouldnt have worked for the story so she had to be in Gryffindor, and thats ok when your writing a book, thats the advantage you have you can twist things to make it work better _________________ ~*Mags*~

yeah hermione does mention that the sorting hat considered her for ravenclaw- but she clearly is gryffindor through and through! _________________

She's plenty brave. What, you talking about the troll in the bathroom? I'd be terrified too if the thing caught me off guard.
She went to help Harry find the Horcruxes, too. I'm sure she's done more, but I can't think off the top of my head. _________________

She went after the Sorcerer's Stone. She used the time turner to go back and save Sirius, even though she knew that there would be dementors and a chance at ruining the future. She stood up to Rita Skeeter. She went into the Ministry of Magic to rescue Sirius. She battled Death Eaters over and over again. She went into Borgin and Burkes to ask questions. She went after the Horcruxes with Harry and Ron. She used the memory charm on her parents. She used polyjuice potion to resemble Bellatrix and break into Gringotts. She fought Bellatrix at Hogwarts.... _________________

I think Hermione would have been just the same amazing student she was in Gryffindor had she been put in Ravenclaw instead. Only difference is, no spectacular adventures and she might not have gotten with Ron.
And if she had done all those things, that just goes to show you she really is a insanely awesome chick! Just like the woman who wrote about her character... _________________

Perhaps.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But wait, she had already met Ron on the Hogwart's Express going TO Hogwart's. Maybe, if according to the Mirror of Erised, it was her deepest secret from then on that she wanted Ron. But her eleven-year-old mind wouldn't have it.
Either way, she ended up in Gryffindor, so whatever.

| She is brave, even if not as brave as Harry. I think she would belong well in either house- maybe part of it was that she wanted to be in Gryffindor, as it was a part of Harry's house choice. |

i think hermione is clever and she should have been in ravenclaw buuuuut she must have had courage when she sat down on the stool n the sorting hat was placed on her , she had a desire in her heart, maybe she wanted to do something brave but had'nt had a chance to, so the hat took this into consideration and put her in gryffindor |

Well, I do not agree with you. Hermione is very intelligent, brave and loyal. If she's isnt brave, she wouldn't have prompt Harry and Ron to search at the Restricted Section to look for Nicholas Famel[sp?] in Sorcerers' and went looking for the Sorcerer Stone.
She ought to be in Gryffindor. |

hermione is muggleborn AND friends with harry. she was free to walk away, to lead a normal danger free life yet she chose to be friends iwth harry and be brave and face teh dangers. she chose to hunt down horcrxes with harry in DH, she chose to fight in the battle of hogwarts.
because of harry hermione has been in life threatening situations but she was brave and survived them all and still stayed friends with harry.
she is truley a gryff girl! _________________

| Nah, I think that she IS brave - in an intellectual fashion. She has a certain kind of bravery to have stuck with Harry no matter what happened; she would even go against the rules when she deemed it truly necessary; she has quite a few little things about her that would sort her into Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw by the skin of her teeth, as it were, I think... |
