|
|
Why did they become death eaters? Snape and Malfoy were not stupid. They were smart and clever, and yet, sleek and cunning.
They wanted more power from Voldy and they could be so sure that their wish would be granted... well... almost... Only if there was no prophecy, only if there was no one could vanquish the dark lord.
Then they got the news and they probably were shocked and scared that the dark lord would really lose the power one day. They had to find ways to get out.
Finally they succeed. Snape did it by giving information to DD. Malfoy by pretending that he was under the control of imperius curse. They really didn't go to Azkaban. How cunning they were! |

lol that was definitely their biggest motivation
the fact that they are smart doesnt mean that they are wise, they thought voldemort would lead them to power and they worshiped him for his will to carry out their ideals _________________

If it's best for himself it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the most wise option for him does it? And for me in the books he always seems to know what to do and at the right time. Maybe thats just me _________________

i dont know, i think that if snape was wise he would see things more clearly that he does usually, i mean of course regarding harry and james
also the whole thing with the dark arts, you would think he would've learned the lesson regarding them after having been a DE, but in book 6 its quite obvious he's still attracted to them _________________

Lily and James chose good, not evil didn't make them smart.
Choosing dark art maybe a wise move because Voldy was really powerful. How many great wizards you know could be his match at their time? Just DD!!! However, DD was mortal while Voldy promised that he's immortal. He could found a way to come back.
If there's not the prophecy, if there's no Harry Potter, Voldy might take over the world and Snape could be his Prime Minister. |

They joined the death eaters because they wanted power, security, anf a sense of belonging to something important. Voldermort formed a cult, and he drew in those who could be easily influenced by these things. _________________

Malfoy and Snape valued what Voldemort had to offer. Both wanted power and prestige and Voldemort offered them that, too.
It is not bad guys =stupid and good guys = smart. Look at Mundungus, he was one of the "good guys" and he was a moron. _________________

You can't make a choice wisely if you can't forsee the future consequences.
Every day we watch the weather forcast, we think of the possibility of the need of umbrellas and then make a choice whether we take umbrellas or not. Will you take an umbrella if you are so sure it won't rain that day? How the hell should you know you walk too close to a garden and the sprinkle breaks down without any warning and give you a show. You won't say you didn't make a choice wisely.
Snape and Malfoy are smart and wise. They estimate the possibility of Voldy's success is much higher than the Order of Pheonix, so they choose Voldy. It's just that the approach of prophecy and Harry is something out of their expectation and immagination. That's why they have to find ways out. |

they werent wise, it doesnt take a genious to see that voldy is cucu and that he doesnt care about any other than his own stinking skin, but they were blinded by their desire of power and didnt see the danger that voldy was
joining him ended up being the biggest mistake of their lives _________________

Because he learned from his mistakes.
It's also about a feeling a superiority. Snape thought that he was greater than muggles, thus permited to rule over them. _________________

i dont know about that
i never really got where snape stands on descrimination against muggles, we know he doesnt think muggleborns are inferiors because he loved lily, but what did he think about muggles?
i still wonder _________________

When he meets Lily he hesitates inhis answers abotu muggle-borns. I think Lily influenced his opinion on muggles and muggle-borns. But obviously that didn't stick beacuse he joined the DEs anyway. _________________

he hesitates because he knows of the descrimination, you know, having a mother who was in slytherin
and in my opinion snape joined the DEs for the dark arts, power and to belong in a group, rather than a genuine dislike for muggles or muggleborns _________________

I don't know how you guys define "wise". If it includes a sense of morality, right or wrong, good or evil, then they are not wise at all. If it just refer to advantage they can get(their own or their families), then they surely are.
I don't know what a "cucu" is, but if you mean tyrant, yes! Voldy is the one. Sooner or later, people will stand up, fight him and overthrow him. But for how long you have to wait? 20 years? 50 years?
I don't know the wizards' life span but sure not everyone has a philosopher's stone. If Voldy can maintain his power for a hundred years, DEs can enjoy the power for their entire life. |
