well... i know harry loved ginny a lot.. and i dont want to offend any one's opinons about harry and ginny..

but i was just wondering... did harry's feelings for ginny anything to with ginny's goodlooks..

as its been said in book many times... that ginny was very beautiful nad famous too..

so is this also another reason..

or may b harry just fell for her..because she seemed to comfort him...??

After the Cho fiasco, I don't think that HArry would make the same mistake twice.

Actually, he never even gave Ginny a second glance. It wasn't until her started spending time with her that he realized he liked her.

Also, the books never say that Ginny is more beautiful than the other girls who are attractive at Hogwarts. She just happens to be popular among the guys, which I credit more to her upbringing that I do to good looks. Ginny understands guys. She had six older brothers, and she spent her childhood trying to fit in with them. She is girly enough to be attractive, but she also understands what a big deal quidditch is. Harry doesn't understand women at all. He needs a person like Ginny to bridge that gap for him.

There are dozens of beautiful girls at Hogwarts. Why would he go after his best friend's sister just because she is beautiful and risk that friendship like that? Harry would never be that careless with his relationship with the Weasley. He weighed these things on his mind before he ever made a move on Ginny. It would be an insult to Jo's intellect if you believe for a second that the hero she created married a woman who only attracted him with her beauty.

Surely not! Why didn't he even think of asking her out when he was in year 3 but had to wait until year 6? It's because he didn't know much about her.

Harry found Cho attractive not because she was beautiful. It was because she happened to be a seeker in another house team.

Harry used to take Ginny as his best friend's sister, no more than that.
But in his 5th year, Ginny replaced him as the seeker in the team. That's good enough to draw his attention. Then after spending about two months together playing quidditch, Harry couldn't help crash on her. So it's not about the look, it's all about understanding and a sport they shared.

lol, no problem . . . I didn't intend to come off as s jerk if that was how it sounded. With the proper informative inflection, I my comment above doesn't really sound mean.

Also, you have to keep in mind that the story it told from Harry's point-of-view. As you said, he beauty is even mentioned much until the sixth and and seventh book, which indicates that Harry didn't even realize that she was beautiful until he had actually gotten to know her. Remember, he spent quite a bit of time with her in OotP and felt a bit rejected when she couldn't hang out with him in the absence of Ron and Hermione.

That is what I was trying to recall. I didn't want to say that it doesn't mention her as beautiful if it actually did, but I never pictured he as particularly beautiful.

I found a quote on the lexicon from Pansy actually:

"A lot of boys like her," said Pansy, watching Malfoy out of the corner of her eyes for a reaction. "Even you think she's good-looking, don't you, Blaise, and we all know how hard you are to please!"
"I wouldn't touch a filthy little blood traitor like her whatever she looked like," said Zabini coldly, and Pansy looked pleased. (HBP7)

I still think that she has an appeal that is more the beauty that draws the guys to her, though.

Field: Do you plan for Ginny to take on a major character role in the next two books?
JK Rowling replies -> Well, now that Ginny has stopped being mute in Harry's presence I think you can see that she is a fairly forceful personality (and she always has been, remember Ron saying that she 'never shuts up' in Chamber of Secrets)?

Looks usually help in a relationship, especially for teenagers. I'm sure Ginny's good looks were a factor.

Forceful personality, sure Ginny had it. See how she had barged Ron and other guys and how she pretended that she's out of control when she knocked down the commentator on purpose.

It's lucky that she's always supportive and really gentle to Harry, plus she could make him laugh. That's a real competence if you compare with Cho and Hermoine, the former upset him more than Moaning Mytle did while the latter liked blabbering on his rule breaking. Sure Ginny could protect Rolling Eyes him against Hermoine... well... I mean, her blabbering. Laughing

I agree. Also he really started to notice Ginny with her magical talent (i.e. Slug Club when she got in for a really good hex, DA, etc..).
Personality definitely overrules good looks.
Though i dont think the good looks hurt the situation... Wink

Doesn't it also say in the books that one of the great things Harry liked about Ginny was the fact that she didn't cry, and she was tough. The opposite of Cho and her crying all the time.

I guess it was also another factor apart from everything else.

It wasn't so much her lack of crying, but the fact that she was so tough. Because Ginny does cry, she cries when Ron interrupts them and Harry leaves, she cries again when her brother dies... she does cry, she's only human. But it's the fact that she tries to be tough that he admires, as opposed to Cho who sort of falls apart.

And they shared almost the kind of experience that nobody could share, being possessed by Voldy.

Hermione might be the one who talked him out of the room in Ootp, but it's Ginny who persuaded him he was no harm to everybody.

I really don't think Harry developed feelings for Harry because of her looks but it probably did play a part in it. I mean when you get with someone you have to find them attractive even if no one else does if you get what i mean ?

I believe Harry developed feelings for Ginny is because unlike everyone else she hasn't tried to solve his problems but still helped him. And she wasn't all over him or anything like that. And because he spent so much time in The Burrow household, Ginny is the only girl.

Opinions? Replies? Smile
