If it were from Lily, how would Snape have known about it? His reactions to seeing the image of the book in Harry's mind and to the spell he used on Malfoy are enough evidence that he knew the book... unless, of course, he and Lily were actually romantically involved, and he knew it because he either hung out with her a lot or stalked her or something....
Anyway, I think he's good. I trust Dumbledore's judgment.

How come Snape is trying to stop Voldemort from having the Stone in Book 1 and admits in Book 6 that he works (at least apparently) for Voldemort?

Shocked
HE'S NOT!?!?!?!?! Dumbledore is amazing at judgement and all but, come on, Snape friggin killed him! Everyone makes mistakes, and I think that trusting Snape in the seventh book was a big one for Dumbledore. Besides, even if Snape isnt working for Voldemort, I dont think that anyone from the order can trust him now. They wouldnt take him back after all the crapola that he pulled. He has no choice but to work for Voldie now.

I dont know. I mean he killed dumbledore, but it could have been plotted out. and they talked before hand. although when harry was listening to malfoy and snape about it he seemed very serious at helping malfoy out. and he did do the unbreakable curse, but at first he was hesitant to say he will to finishing the job. oh and he stunned flitwick when hermione and luna were spying on him. although albus trusts him. I dont know it's all very confusing but as of right now i'm leaning more toward the evil side.

I don't think Snape would kill Dumbledore on purpose. I mean, why would he just be under Dumbledore's command for all of those years and not kill him? I think he would've killed him befor-hand if he had wanted to. He might have been under the imperius curse. There was all of those death eaters there, someone could've put him under the imperius curse, and I don't think they mentioned anything about his eyes. They probably didn't even look at them. Maybe. Just a thought.

Here's an example why Snape isn't evil. When Harry and the others left for the Ministry in Book 5, Snape informed the Order about it. He also went to look for them in the forest. If he was evil, why did he do that? If it wasn't for the Order, Harry and the others would have been killed. And wasn't it Dumbledore who blocked the Avada Kedavra from hitting Harry? Who informed Dumbledore? Snape. By alerting the Order, Snape thwarted Voldemort. He could have just ignored everything. He could have not warned the Order and said that he looked in the forest but nobody was there, and Harry and the others were nowhere in Hogwarts. It was very clear, that Lucius and the Death Eaters were not expecting the Order. They were only expecting Harry, and perhaps the others as well. They were cpmpletely thrown off guard. And Voldemort appeared because he wasn't expecting Dumbledore to pop up suddenly. Snape, by informing the Order, indirectly saved Harry's life and help destroy Voldemort's plans to get the prophecy. And he knew its importance, having heard half of it. He knew it's importance. And he most certainly knew the plan. Why else would members of the Order be talkin about a 'weapon?' And placing guards at the Department of Mysteries(like Mr.Weasley)? All this shows that Snape is good and not evil as many would think. If anyone wants to offer a contrdaicting theory I would like to hear it.

The one thing that always intigued me about Snape. Is his attitude toward everyone, good or bad. I always thought that he was in it for himself. When Voldemort was around the first time he was a supporter. After he disappeared it seemed like he switched sides. After Voldemorts return a second time in the books, he seems to go both ways. That is why I think he is in it for himself. Whichever side gets him further.

I personally don't think Lily has a secret concerning snape at all. I think your all just reading into way to much detail for the books. Even JK herself has said
Quote:
People look for Depth and Detail in fantasy books this is perhaps why Tolkien was so successfull
I just don't think she'll be able to incorporate a secret like that one to fit in one book. Remember she said there will be exactly seven books and no more. Which means she will leave us with a lot of questions and also leaves more room for elaboration on the subjects through various other books about the series written by other people. Look at tolkiens world how many books are there about LOTR series compared to the actual books he wrote.

snape isn't evil. I see snape sacrificing himself as a martyr to the Order in Book 7.

Hey, this has nothing to do with what you're talking about, but I suspect the librarian Irma Pince might be related to Snape. This is because the letters of Irma Pince can be rearranged to form "I'm a Prince". Prince was Snape's mother's surname. Just a coincidenc? I hope not Smile

That's unlikely. It's just a coincidence. Snape has a major role to play in the 7th book, I think.

Yeah, I know, it sounds ridiculous. I just wanted to come up with an interesting theory for once Embarassed.

Other anagrams include: Ollivander = an evil lord
Romilda Vane = i'm a dan lover (a reference to Daniel Radcliffe?)

Nope, Snape is not evil! I think he is truly still loyal and spy for Dumbledore and the Order. He may appear at the moment to be your typical baddy because of what he has now done, but I think that Dumbledore planned that night and stuff. I think people misunderstand Snape because of how he acts towards others and himself. They think him a selfish and cowardly type person but, do we really know Snape well enough to judge him fully. Sure his actions determine him mostly and perhaps as a baddy, but not all. He has saved people several times and whatnot. No, I think Snape still has good in him and we will see that in book seven...if not then *cries* I'll miss the old Snape!

I dont believe that Snape is evil, coz if he is really evil then Dumbledore is dead for good.

Also in Book 4 (the Goblet of fire) Voldemort uses Crouch to set Harry up for the Tri-Wizard tournament instead of Snape who is the easier choice of the two.
When u look at the entire series except the last book (HBP), it kind of prooves that Snape is on the good guys side.

Well Dumbledore being dead is no longer a question. JK has said he is dead and not coming back.
