Because in order to destroy a Horcrux you need either fiendfyre or basilisk venom.

or gryffindor's sword Wink

Gryffindor's sword only worked to destroy the Horcruxes because it had basilisk venom embedded in the blade from when Harry stabbed it through the mouth.

^ Okay, then. But I found it if you want to see, it's on page

Spoiler:

303 of the US edition when Phineas says something that makes Hermione realize of it's importance. She explains on the next page....

"The sword can destroy Horcrixes! Goblin-made blades imbibe only that which strengthens them - Harry, that sword's impregnated with basilisk venom!"

Remember that he was raised in a Muggle Orphanage.

It was around 1936-37 when Dumbledore came and visited him in the Orphanage when he was 11. So close to WWII, which of course involved guns.

He enjoyed torturing and killing people. Killing people with a gun in an instant couldn't satisfy him.

Everyone said that Harry was the boy who lived. Voldy couldn't touch him. It seemed like Harry had greater magical power than him. He's proud and arrogant. He wanted to show people that he could kill Harry by his own magic, without any help from other people or muggle device.

Voldy hated anything to do with muggles, he would never resort to using a muggle weapon. He would view a gun as a poor substitute for magic and way beneath him.

That's correct.I mean Voldy always hated even half-bloods even if he was one of them.

This conversation is just going in circles now. The points people are making on this page are the same points that were made on the first page.

voldy didn't kill his victims slowly! he used avada kedavra and that kills people instantly!! it's basically like a gun only no blood and u have a 100% chance of killing the person u aimed at.

Actually, Jo originally had more gruesome deaths in mind for Harry's parents, and I'm willing to be that she would have kept the same theme for the other characters' deaths, but then her mother died while she was writing PS. She decided to make the deaths of Harry's parents quick and as painless as possible after watching her mother suffer. I think that she just decided to gie Voldemort a style when it came to killing and stuck with that AK for that reason.

I suspect if a wicked wizard knows how to perform AK in a special way, he can use it to kill while making a horcrux. Rowling just didn't tell!

also, voldemort also is so proud because hes the best wizard ever (or so he believes). a gun would kind of contradict this....if hes the best wizard ever, why would he need a gun?

First of all, the sword didnt't destroy the Horcruxes, the basilisk venom inbedded in the sword did.
Second of all... how can a gun destroy a sword? Either it will leave a bullet hole, or bounce off, lol. Either way, the venom will still exist in the pieces of sword.

In book 4, there was mention that certain muggle inventions would not work on the grounds because of protective magic.

Maybe Voldemort wouldn't have used a gun, and because of the horcruxes would have been hard to kill with a gun - but it would be reasonable to think that the Order could mow down some Death Eaters with a gun, or vice versa. Magic wouldn't protect you if you were caught off guard and didn't have a chance to try and deflect the shot.
