Or are they really trying hard not to show dobby in the movies. I mean he was supposed to show up in the last movie and other parts too, but theyre just getting rid of him completely... I mean what is going on?

He doesn't appear much in the books anyway and I can't exactly say they would be one of the important parts that they would have to add. I would like them to add him of course though.

I wonder if they are even going to show his death. I mean, for us readers it was sad... but as for the people who go to see the movies only and don't read the books, they might not even remember who Dobby is.

i cried when Dobby died, the movie will be disappointing if they don't show his death, along with a lot of other things! They better not get rid of him completly..

I think them leaving Dobby out is more about the time constraints.

well yeah sure but i think they still want to make it more. sad, bat true. besides it already costs a lot to make a movie like harry potter - making these little cuts in the budget can help a lot when put together. only my opinion Rolling Eyes like with shopping food: changing some product (milk for example) to cheaper one will help a lot in the monthly budget.

you're right, i have no real experience in these things, but i still wouldn't want to treat money as trash. (i'm not claiming that you would)

although GinnyX, you are right about the time constraints, it probably is the biggest reason.

Yep that might be it, the movies are 2.5 hours long already and maybe thats why they also cut out some other side stories in the movies. So I guess we can't do much about it. I guess in CoS it was necessary to show him and now its not which sucks since I was getting pretty attached to him (in a way lol)

They tried to cut Kreacher out of OotP, but couldn't because of DH (Jo told them that they really shouldn't during production).

they'll have dobby's death in the movie but like sirius' it won't really mean anything to the audience who hasn't read the books. In the books we learnt so much about these characters and got really attached to them, while in the movie they're just there. I've been disapointed in all the death scenes to date so i'm sure dobby won't be an exception.
As for his absence in the films, they try to cut it down time wise soooo much that what ever they can get away with they do.

Yeah, in the movie theater everyone who read the books was moved by Sirius's death. You could actually hear the sighs and the gasps... but for the people who had only even seen the films, they were just like, eh, whatever.

Yeah, that's exactly how it was with Sirius whenhe died. I mean, people knew he was harry's godfather, but they didn't get as attached to him as some of the book readers did.
