The ring Horcrux was cursed.

Check Deathly Hallows chapter 33 (The Prince's Tale) page 680. That is where Harry see Snape's memory of when he tried to help DD.

No, DD is pureblood, the ring would have done that to anyone that put the ring on.

The ring was cursed and DD failed to take the proper precautions because he knew what the stone, set in the ring, was and...
Spoiler:

he long to see his family again.

He was paying the price for his greed by having his body gradually blacken and decay.

That's such a lovely way to put it!

But yes, Dumbledore was not the perfect wizard that Harry always thought him out to be. He had a good idea of what would happen to him, but he put the ring on anyway with hopes of seeing a loved one from his past. (Can we say ... awwwww!)

Spoiler:

... let's not even get onto the topic that there was a 1 / 3 chance he killed said loved one.

If it weren't for Snape ... He would have died before Harry ever reached Hogwarts for his 6th year ... and then how would he have ever known how to seek out The Dark Lord?

See why Slytherins are awesome!

It is because of the Horcrux ring that he found. He tried to destroy it and in the process he scarred his hand for life.

nah, its cuz he put the ring on. Im assuming that if you picked it up, not much would happen. But since he put it on, he became cursed. Snape stopped the curse from spreading, which is why only his hand was black.
