David Yates to direct Deathly Hallows film?

Author Lois Lowry has updated her blog, where she states that production for the film adaptation of her book, The Giver, was to begin with David Yates as director. But she explains he cannot as he is signing up to direct the final Harry Potter film 'Deathly Hallows'.

She announced:
David Yates, the director currently working on the next Harry Potter film, was supposed to begin The Giver film next. But he has just decided he wants to do the final Harry Potter first, thereby postponing The Giver by several years.

Here is the link to her blog

For me i think its a horrible idea for Wb to bring back David Yates
Whats do you guys think ?

I mean, the movie was great, but they cut too much out, and also, they made it so the Order could fly, which was supposed to be something special about only Voldie and Snape...

Other than that, it is a great movie

Hes not only dumb but retarded i would say he has no directing experiences other than Harry Potter,he makes longest book the shortest film and replace important character with random extras and leaves out the important plots.

i hope some takes over DH other than Yates
My choice either Alfonso Cauron or Chris Columbus

He didn't create Nigel, Newell did. But Yates was the brilliant one who kept the character in there.

David Yates? Yes, he's directing the 6th film right now.

Well, he did the fifth film.. and he's doing the 6th one right now as we speak, they are in the middle of filming. Then they have a six month break or so.. then they film the 7th film. So he can do it, I think.

Well, I rather have Yates direct than Newell. He slaughtered GoF and by the look of Mike, he didn't enjoy directing it. When he was asked to direct the 5th, he refused. :p

However, I'd like to know why Chris Columbus hasn't volunteered. Finish what you begun Chris!!!

He didn't want to continue dorecting because of the time it took, it kept him from his family and from his home for over a year for each film. His children he was able to have on the set with him some of the time, but not always.
I would be really interested to see what he would do with the seventh film. A lot of people have been talking about Peter Jackson just because of LotR, but there is no way to know that Columbus wouldn't make DH spetacular.

i mean, chris colombus left cause it was too much, 2 years in a row making the same film

three must be really a lot of work, and also with the possibility of the last movie being split in 2

i just wonder wether he will be able to handle it

Chris Columbus left because he wanted to spend time with his family. He opted for producing the films, instead.
There has been time between filming the 5th, 6th, and 7th film which will give Yates a chance to breathe. Columbus didn't have those breathing times. Also, Yates might not have other distractions to keep him from leaving.

Last I heard on the matter, Columbus showed interest in directing DH. I hope he can beat Yates to the punch. It really is too bad that PoA and OOTP were so close to being artistic flops. CC would've done some justice to them!

Ohh Goody. It will be great to have him back! But I'd think Yates will have the upperhand if HBP smashes the Box Office and makes more money than any of the other 5 films.

I liked Chris Columbis when he directed, he did a good job in my opinion. Yates also did a good job but who knows if he'll do DH also, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I really like David Yates and all, but i'm not sure if i want him to direct the last DH.

I know it may seem i kind of stupid, however i think i might want a whole new director.

Also i have a question is it possible to have more than one director? cuz i woudn't mind someone working with alfonson on one.

I'm not trying to seem harsh or agressive, but to those people who go on about how good columbus was do you remember that he had the 2 shortest books out of the lot of them?
