Snape's because when Harry uses one of the spells against Snape at the
end of the book Snape clearly says that it is his own spell.
However, more than one person could have owned the book, so it doesn't mean that
Snape is the Half Blood Prince.
Besides, he's pure blood isn't he?
Maybe Hermione is right and it was a female. Maybe Lily.

Okay, so Snape's Mom's maiden name was Prince. She was a witch, right? Was Snape's Dad a wizard or a muggle, hence making Sev a half-blood, and hence again Sev wanting to be so associated with the wizarding world used his Mom's maiden name instead of Snape in the potions book.
I thought Slytherin House wanted pure-bloods only. Oh well, Tom Riddle wasn't pure-blood and he got in Slytherin.
Not wanting to use their real names is a similar trait between Sev and Tom. Just noticing things here. _________________

His dad, Tobias Snape, was a muggle, so that made Snape a half-blood.
