In one of the books Harry starts to realise that Ron and Hermione have a thing for eachother. He wonders a little if he'll get pushed out a little more if they begin to date. Do you think this is true?

I personally don;t know but all thoughts are welcome

I think harry always had an inclination it was going to happen... from as far back as he can remember. In GoF he notices them arguing after the Ball. And a few days later he find Krum's tiny broken arm under the bed. In OotP he notices Ron's change in expression after Hermione's kiss on the cheek.
He thinks about it in HBP, right after the Greenhouse scene... HBP ch 14, pg 283 (US ed) and that was when he wonders how he feels about it, as far as being a third wheel and any awkwardness that could ensue if the relationship turns sour.

In DH his worries are tested... when he wakes up in Grimmauld Place to see they have fallen asleep holding hands. The thought makes him feel "lonely." Those kinds of things I don't think made him feel like a third wheel... I think it just made him miss Ginny more.

Later on, he seems a bit annoyed when he can tell they are silently talking to each otehr right behind him. He also gets annoyed several times when Ron takes Hermione's side, just to stay on her good side. I think those sort of things annoyed me, as they would annoy me, too. These things may have made him feel like a third wheel.

Ron and Hermione never went out of their way to make Harry feel like a third wheel, nor did they ever exclude him in any activity or conversation, except went it was concern over him.

I think that if they had started dating earlier on in the series, he wouldn't have felt like a third wheel all the time, but just like how he run off with Ginny to be alone with her, they would probably do the same. I think when it comes down to it, he'd be more happy for them that upset over it.

I remember him thinking that he would be more like a third wheel if Ron and Hermione started dating, but I don't think that he would have. To be honest with you, I doubt that Ron and Hermione dating made any diabolical difference in their relationship. Hermione would still be obsessed with books and Harry and Ron probably still sit aournd trying to understand why whilst playing wizarding chess. Ron and Hermione already spent time alone, or at least away from Harry, quite a lot during the series -- even in the earlier years. There were often times when Harry would find them playing wziarding chess in the common room . . .

It is true that they all have spent time apart, Harry and Ron, Hermione and Harry, and Hermione and Ron. Hermione was even with Ron and his family earlier than Harry was every summer. I think Harry was more concerned with what would happen if they broke up or if they started acting all mushy-like.

He was concerned about them breaking up. I remember his thought returning to the time when he and Ron weren't speaking and how awkward it was. I doubt that they would have ever broken up, though. Their liking of each other goes really deep. There were many signs that Ron cared for Hermione even in CoS. I also am lead to believe that Ron's smite for Hermione was largely the reason that he didn't ever date during his time at Hogwarts, with the exception of Lavender whom he was only using anyway.

I know that he was afraid of the being "mushy-like," but my point is that he was wrong. Ron and Hermione aren't the types to show a lot of PDA. The only reason that Ron even did all of that public kissing was because Ginny made fun of him and he wanted to make Hermione jealous.

If Ron and Hermione had hookes up sooner, then their raltionship wouldn't have been much different, except that when Harry was busy with something else, they might have taken that time for private affection.

yeah, right after the Greenhoouse scene, he was thinking how awkward it would be if they fought again or if things feel apart like him and Cho.

Well yeah sort of,but mostly I think they were blabering behind his back because they were dissapoined in his leadership or whatever. It is possible something started already there between Hermione and Ron.

i dont think it will be the same as when they were all friends, cause from then on ron and hermy are the most important person for each other, no matter how much they love harry he's bound to be left apart

good thing he has ginny Smile

I assumed that the person who made this post was talking about his thoughts after the greenhouse bit to begin with.

Confused I don't know. I don't mean to. Laughing I think that I often come off as condescnding and patronizing when I really am just trying to keep communication at a maximum.

maybe it's a Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor thing? jk

But yeah, I think we both agree that Harry was more concerned about a falling out between the two than anything.

^ yes we were, but I'm still not sure if we agree on whether or not he was right. I think he was wrong, and that is for all of the reason that I have stated in my posts above.

Ron and Hermione were certainly not mushy in front of him (I use the word "mushy" for lack of a better word). And he wasn't really caught in the middle of their falling out. Well, he was, but the situation was different, it wasn't liek they were at school or anything. I think there were moments where he felt annoyed, like when they communciated silently behind him or when Ron took Hermione's side without good reason. Other than that, I don't think Harry minded them together at all and was happy for them, mainly due to the fact that he saw it coming a mile away.

I'm glad JK waited to start the Ron/Hermoine relationship until the 6th book. I don't care if Harry was still missing Ginny during his, Ron's, and Hermoine's long time being of being on the run and stuck in that tent...I would've felt like a third wheel too if I would have been seeing the things he saw!!! You can be friends with people as long as you want, but when you realize a connection between the two...and they start acting on it...you start not wanting to be there to see it, because they are intimate moments.

Harry was just uncertain. Ron and Hermione were his two best friends. He'd want them to be happy, but seeing what they were like after a big fight gave him a taste of what it'd be like if they broke up. It'd drive me up the wall too.
