I know it's nearly irrelevant, but S.P.E.W. actually is mentioned (briefly) in HBP, whilst Dumbledore shows Harry the recollection of Hokey the house-elf (page 439).

I'm sure they will think of something, though honestly - they should've included Hermione's S.P.E.W. in the movies. It's a strong message, and actually reminds me of PETA... but then, perchance that is why it wasn't put in Laughing

I just saw an interview with Emma Watson and the interviewer asked her what scenes she would have liked in OotP but were cut out, and she answered that she would have really liked the SPEW scenes. She looked really sad when she said it. The film's somewhere on Youtube, I think it was the Early Show?

The way things are going, Ron will probably make the move. Did you notice that Hermione's character in this last film was WAY more rebellious than in the book. If they keep her moving in that direction (which will be sorely disappointing if you ask me), then Hermione will end uo saying something that send Ron into uber-happy mode. Maybe she'll make a remark about the joy that quidditch brings the world. That would be VERY un-Hermione-like. They say that they are putting quidditch in this movie. I hope that they don't leave out Ron's shining moments this time.

For sure, they will NOT cut the kissing scene. It seems way too ridiculous if they cut it out.

And as for the topic of this thread, I was thinking the same thing. I do wonder how they're going make Hermione initiate the kiss.... but I had a feeling that Hermione's passion for the Elfish Welfare will be shown in HBP (they'll probably mention it IF Harry does use Kreacher and Dobby in the movie) and get it on from there...?

If they decide to use Elfish Welfare for the catalyst, then they better mention it in HBP.

ron.hearts.hermione: I adore you sig!!!!

i have a feeling that something along the lines of Ron being really smart for thinking about the Basilisk in the CoS and Hermione kisses him before that, so it would be before the part actually happens in the book, or, when ron returns??

When Ron returns? That would be just wrong; Ron was a total d-bag for doing what he did and Hermione kisses him!? No, not possible.

But if they cut the scene, they die.

I never even thought about that.

That's the best kiss in the entire series. If they cut that out, I'll...I don't know...

Well first of all, they have already stated, in interviews, the first film ends with Ron leaving. So it would make sense for it to skip right to the Battle of Hogwarts at the start of the second film because, hello, why would Ron be back so soon? That’s just the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Second, the actors and the director have already spoken about the kiss numerous times so I also highly doubt that they are going to eliminate it. They are not dumb, they know how many fans would be upset. Third of all, one of the main reasons (and this has also been stated in interviews) that they decided to make two films was because they really wanted to do justice to the battle of hogwarts. They wanted to make it really awesome. So if you want to bet three bucks that they cut the battle out, I’ll up that bet to 10,000, because I won’t be giving away a cent. I don’t even know why people are discussing how it’s going to happen. Did you not read the book? If they cut out the part about the house elfs, it will still happen the exact same way, except with a different line. Ron won’t probably make the first move. It will happen the same as in the book. They never change the big things, and this is a big thing.

That is the point of this thread... not if there will be a catalyst, but what will it be.
What do you think it will be?

To be honest, there should not BE a catalyst! It should be exactly the way it was written in the book!

Well, S.P.E.W. would be the catalyst if they kept exactly to the books. But, I agree, i wish it was the same as the books.. But there is no S.P.E.W. in sight, unfortunately.

Yeah, but that's not happening. S.P.E.W. was cut out, and I don't think there's a way to stick it back in.

That's the most ideal catalyst imo. But I wouldn't put it past them to make up some entirely different concept instead of S.P.E.W. to make a lame catalyst...

GinnyX, how did you find out the S.P.E.W was cut?

What's funny is that I doubt they'll even do something about it. I can see the scene in my eyes.

"Hey, we forgot about something..." Ron says with his "Wha'huh? o.O" look.
Hermione looks at Ron, always panting as if she's run 5 miles. (For more information, see Hermione's First Lines in OotP)
"What, Ronald?" (Which really sounds, Ronold)
"The House Elves. We can't let them DIE for us." (emphasising the word die as if he's singing)
- Pink, fluffy cute music background as Hermione lets out a "MEH" sigh and walks and kisses Ron in the lamest way possible. I expect it could even be a cheek-kiss. -
Then we hear a "IT'S THE DEATH-EATARZ!!11" GoF-like scene and the dun-dun action music is back on as Harry lets out a "RUN!" but doesn't specify to which direction, so Harry goes to the Shrieking Shack and Ron and Hermione go to...
The Broom Cupboard. :3
