yeah well how is Ron going to invite the poor girl on a date to slughorns party...well she was brining him. any way the point is is she knows he liked her and they had a date planned the next moment you know shes making out with lavender...or "snogging". what if a girl you liked ased you on a date then the next thing you know shes on a guy? plus she knows that Ron liked her because he was very jelouse at the yule ball.

Exactly and Ron wasn't very nice to Hermione either when her cat did "Something that cats do" ("ate" scrabbers).
He said all sorts of things which basically meant: "But that can't happen because Hermione killed my rat"

but it's a little cruel...even though she had good reason. i mean come on, it's hermione, she may hold a grudge, but never wildly attack somebody wit birds, even if it is idiotic ron. plus she had that determined and crazy look in her eyes, shows what girls will do when jealous........ Wink

Well. girls feelings can be hurt a lot so ron was stupid enough to go and do it. he only wanted to "snog" lavender i think to shove it in ginnys face when they had an argument on the stairs.

Ginny was really horrible to Ron, saying that he'd never snogged anyone in his life, and the best kiss he'd ever had was from Auntie Muriel. Ginny was "screaming with derisive laughter", which doesn't sound too kind of her.

The very next question we get from Ron was did Hermione snog Victor? Then Ron won't speak to Hermione for days because he's in a sulk.

So Ron used Lavender, to get equal with Hermione for snogging Victor Krum. Lavender got caught in the "merry war of words" between R & H.

Yet when Ron is poisoned, he calls out Hermiones name. So the affection is there, deep down. They can't show each other affection, so they bicker instead, at least that keeps them talking. I guess all that pent up emotion has to go somewhere!!

The worse thing I can imagine is that Victor Krum comes back to Hogwarts, because then we'd see *fireworks*. Very Happy

everybody's head is wrapped around the whole hermione innocent always thing and hermione could never do anything wrong. hermione's my gurl but i still think she has no control over her love life and is maybe a little crazed in this book. and i'm also mad at ron cuz deep down he knows hermione's gonna be his gurl and yet he doesn't try to stop bickering, instead encourages it so...yah
i'm not taking anybody's side, just find something bad on both, that always works.

Both are behaving badly, so I can happily agree with you.

Hermione will break every rule in the book for Ron, she's hugely biased in his favour. Could any of us imagine Hermione confusing Maclaggan so that Ron would get on to the Quidditch team? I doesn't sound like Hermione does it? Yet for Ron, she would cheat.

Ron needs to get over the Victor Krum thing too. He's so jealous, that he intends to hurt Hermione. Which isn't going to endear her to him is it?

Something has to happen, where Ron will forget about Krum.

On Hermione's defense, if there was this guy you had liked for years decided to be a complete jackass and snog with the easiest girl in Gryffindor to get back at you for something so stupid would you not take drastic measures? I would, hell the canaries weren't mean enough in my opinion.

Also, Hermione is a bookworm type of girl, she doesnt really know all that much about relationships. She was with Crum who never talked and has been fighting and bickering with Ron. When she flies off the handle and goes a little crazy it kinda does fit her personality. Plus, everyone once in a while does something very out of character. Most of the time it is brought by anger and jelousy.

Hermione was just a hormonal, confused, upset, jealous teenager. That's your average teen right there.

The ones we love most dearly bring out the everything in us.

I love when she does that with the birds! First of all, it shows that even Hermione can loze control! Second of all, Ron deserved it. Lastly, it isn't nearly as bad as disfiguring Marietta Edgecombe probably for life in OotP . . . which I loved, as well. Ginny, however, sides with the Marietta camp on that one . . .

Razz Because it was a permanent disfiguration. Ron was just fine.

Ron, on the other hand, deserved to get something thrown at him. I throw things at my tv several times a week when Spencer's face shows up on there. Ron was lucky all he got was some shallow scratches... Hermione can be quite cruel when it comes to physical punishments.

Both sides haaave... their right points. First of all, we all know Ron can be very unreasonable when he's jealous, and he showed that in DH, when he left Harry and Hermione. He showed it, time and again, with Krum. I think hearing Ginny say that Hermione was what got him over the top. He's unreasonable, but Hermione went way over the top too. It's a bit hypocritical to "forgive" Hermione for going to the Christmas Party with McLaggen and say Ron deserved what Hermione did to him because he made up with Lavender. If we're about to share the blame, both of them get a part of it.

Hermione is just as bad when jealous as Ron. The only difference is that she doesn't show it much, since Ron doesn't give her a chance to do so; until the sixth book, Ron practically had no private life.

Being a guy, I don't really think Ron started this all with Lavender to get back at Hermione. He probably was very hurt and just wanted to get over her. Never having had a girlfriend before, he was excited at first, seeing as being with Lavender gave him much more opportunities than sulking over Hermione. Keep in mind that in Ron's eyes, Hermione was a lost cause, so he just probably decided to move on. He had no idea it would upset Hermione.

To me it seems almost funny. Ron was discovering the good sides in a relationship, momentarily forgetting about Hermione, and Hermione getting even more angry by the day. We see Mrs. Weasley again in her, however. Just like Mrs. Weasley was worried that Gred and Forge would have died and she would have been cold with them on the last moment they had, just like that Hermione panicked when she heard Ron was poisoned and couldn't handle the prospect of having Ron dying and being on unfriendly terms with Hermione.

And you sure as hell can't put any blame on Lavender. In fact, Lavender is the victim here. Sure, she's not the perfect female, but she got treated like dirt. It's 50%-50% on Ron and Hermione really.

And Hermione went to the party with McLaggen just to make Ron angry. Both of 'em screwed up. Cool

Agreed. Give a pinch, give a kiss to another girl, give an attack with canaries, give ignoring to the "person", you always have to give something!

In HBP, Ron and Hermione don't give each other lots of good things. Confused
