I heard they don't even have that, because of the writers' strike.

I didn't know that the writers strike was affecting Harry Potter Sad Sad

I thought it was mostly British writers...so I didn't think they would be involved with that.

Hopefully they'll have come to a resolution before the next one comes around.

Splitting the movie into two would actually be good seeing as all they do with the latest movies is cut EVERYTHING good from them so if making TWO movies of the same book means having the ability to add SO MUCH MORE into it then let it be done! The Matrix reloaded and revolutions was origonally supposed to be one movie but they cut that in two didnt they. The new Quentin tarantino movie Planet Terror and the sequal...I forgot the name but they were supposed to be one movie so they divided it into two movies and released them in the cinmas a few weeks apart from each other. BUT maybe they could jus make the last Harry Potter movie a much LONGER length one than the rest? Like we've seen em cut out hundreds of stuff before so seeing as this movie is a BIG one then I dont think alot of people would mind if they made the movie 3 - 4 hours long, right? As long as the movie has everything from the book that it needs.

Hummm cool!
Or they split the filme in two halves or make a film with at least 4 hours.
Deathly Hallows it's the last film so I wanted to see something "WOW", not a two hour film.

It is, but I think it's a respect thing. I also heard that they might be getting a new screenwriter, so maybe those two rumours are connected somehow.

I think we should have a really long movie not two separate ones. I don't think it's fair to the fans to cut it off half way and then have to wait another year and half to two years for the second part.

It'll just be weird.

Hm... I'm 50/50 about this decision. Because if its split into two... it doesn't feel like the 7th book. However... splitting into two means that they're going to include everything in the book. I don't care if the movie goes for 4 hours... Very Happy

If they do split it into two, I wonder where they're going to stop it. Maybe

Spoiler:

when ron leaves Harry and Hermione, then the audience who doesn't read the books are left hanging...

this is unlikily but maybe both parts could come out on the same day. that way if you want you could watch them both. or you could watch part 1 the first day and part two the next or whatever you want to do.

I think that from the 3rd book on they could have easily made 2 movies out of each film. Each time I watch the film I cringe at all the things they left out. Significant stuff. And it doesn't make sense to me why they didn't do it. All the Harry Potter movies make TONS of money. Hollywood makes one rotten movie after another that lose money. If they know they have a guaranteed HUGE winner on their hands, I can't figure out why they didn't make 2 films of all of them. Make Hollywood happy and make Potter fans happy at the same time! What could be wrong with that?

If people don't want to wait for 2 films to come out separately, it is not unknown for 2 (3hr) films, part 1 and part 2, to come out at the same time.

And what's this about Hermione not wanting to do anymore films? What is the deal about that? I'm shocked. This is a Very nice gravy train, at least from my perspective. Anyone have any thoughts on why she is contemplating not doing more?

You mean Emma Watson, the girl who plays Hermione? That is old news from last spring. She hesitated finishing the last two films because of her commitment to school, but she has since signed on to do the last two films.

See, that's the thing. She signed up for two films, not three. And she was so hesitant of signing up for two, I don't think she would sign up for a third since she is planning on going to school and continuing her education. That's my only worry with this all, that a lot of the actors will not sign up for the other one because they originally though there were only going to be 2 more and they have made other plans with their careers/personal lives.

I dunno. I have a serious doubt for this idea. that wouldn`t even be that good,. I think it`s better to make one really long movie. It`s 7 books and 7 movies. And where would they split the movie? We`d have to wait another year for the 2nd part? No. That`s silly. I say - 1 movie.

Well, if they DID split the movie in half then they wouldn't release it on the SAME day BUT not a YEAR apart! Laughing That'd be a VERY stupid idea to leave the viewers "HANGING" for a year halfway through a book lol. But haven't ANY of yous seen the MATRIX??? The 2nd and 3rd matrix movies were released within a month apart from each other so maybe Harry potter 7 PART 1 could come out in, say...July and the PART 2 could come out in august/september. Problem solved Laughing Jeez, it's a wonder why no one has even mentioned the matrix bein split in half Rolling Eyes

I doubt there will be two parts. The fifth book was the longest in the series, and they managed with one installment.

"Managed" is the operative word. Excelled is what they failed at.

Laughing Yeah they did MAKE a movie but did they make it GOOD or as good as it COULD have been? Well to be honest, I liked the 5th movie but thats only cos of the action, effects and acting but if I hadn't read the book and THEN seen it I would've hated it if I knew how much of the story I was missin out on so NOPE! MANAGED isn't GOOD enough! So two movies is the way it shall end!!! Razz

After Columbus, their goal never was to excell. That takes a special talent with the right effort.

That said: It is possible to take what was in the DH book and make a wonderful film without splitting it into two parts.
