I just use to say this for amusement but now I think there's something to it.

There might have been a relationship in the past or Snape is attracted to Tonks. Here's what I found.

* Tonks entertains Hermione and Ginny by changing her nose. One of the changes Harry thinks looks like Snape's nose.

It could be that she was just making fun of stuck up old Snape or she could be making fun of an ex.

* But what really got me was HBP. When she brings Harry to the gate.

First thing he does is call her Nymphadora. I think he does this to annoy her cause she doesn't like the name. If he wants to annoy her it could be Snape being Snape or it could be him teasing an ex. But he has a history of calling women he likes names that they don't like.

But I'll point out that she doesn't react the same way she did when Remus called her that. In OOTP, she cringed. When Snape calls her Nymphadora in HBP she does not react to it. Or it could be that it was what he always called her.

Then Snape says he was interested to see her new Patronous. Which begs the question, what was the old one and why was he interested to see the new one.

He then shuts the gate in her face- this is an angry reaction if you ask me. Why would Snape be angry because he patronous changed to werewolf.

He then says with malice in his voice: I think you were better off with the old one. The new one looks a bit weak."

So he knows the new one represents Remus, so he must have noticed that Tonks loves Remus but the big question is why should he care. Why did he take joy in taunting her about Remus, it doesn't seem to be his style. He never taunted Harry about the memories he saw of Cho, so why get so personal with Tonks.

Then there's Tonks look of shock and anger. If she is shocked, why? Why would she not expect that of him. So it could be that they dated.

I don't know if they did have a relationship or If Snape hopes for one but I'm starting to think that there might be something there. Remus liked Lily, so who knows he and Snape could have the same taste.

I think they could be a nice couple.

He is dark and gloomy, she is bright and cheerful. They'll complement each other well.

They are both halfbloods

And I think Snape could use a woman who's not dead.

I'm a huge Snape/Lily shipper but I think I just found a new ship. The only problem is for this ship to work Remus has to die or get rejected, which might not happen.

DO you think they'll make a nice pair.

Good points, but a little too unbelievable. I mean, I personally think that no one would going out with Snape.

Good points but i think he was just trying to bash Lupin because he's Lupin. James friend. Even though he never really did anything to Snape he never stopped James and Sirius from bothering him even though he was a prefect. Also i would agree the they complete each other but when could they have been dating ? Snape really has a strict time line on what he was doing i really don't think he had time for a girl friend. Not to mention he is way older then her. BTW i might be adding more to your theory. Tonks might like older men Wink

Very good thinking toon but i think Snape was being Snape. It's possible.

So it pitched this idea on a yahoo user group and only one person seems to think it's possible but this one person aslo thinks that Lupin is what people accuse Snape of being : For himself.

They think that Lupin is alone by nature and is doomed to be alone for the rest of his life becasue he can't help it, He's a werewolf. They don't think he's evil but he has a personal agenda and will not something like a relationship get in the way. They compared him to Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Wickham, the charming man who everyone thinks is agreeable but really he is sly. Then they said Snape was like Mr. Darcy, horribe with expressing his feelings but really has a good heart.

I laughed my ass off because I knew it was only a matter of time before someone compared Snape to Mr. Darcy, who is probably the most loved character of all time.

I love Snape just as mush as anybody but he's no Mr. Darcy.

I don't like this whole Lupin not being that great think, it's making me uneasy. I think that will break Harry's heart into pieces. But if that's what it takes for Snape to get a woman then, oh well.

No way, I dont think someone like Tonks would have ever gone out with a gloomy dark person like Snape. They were good points but... well I just still find it unbelievable.

Well I think Harry can't picture Snape with a woman so we can't either. But we don't know how he is to people who he likes. I imagine that he has had a girlfriend or something, I mean he's 37. If there is any ounce of normalcy in him I think he should have a love life. I just started to look at Tonks because I think he is so dark that he needs someone the opposite to balance him out. Oh and Remus ain't much of a catch either. He's so selfloathing and distant and you get the feeling that he's not always being open. For example why didn't he tell Harry that he and James were friends before the Shack. That was really weird.

Just realised another thing they have in common. Tonks is good in potions.

How do I know.

When she was 14 Snape would have been 27. Which means he was already teaching Potions for a couple of years.

When she wrote he owls he would have been her potions teacher.

Snape only accepts students with Outstanding in his NEWT class.

She must have gotten an Outstanding, cause she did NEWT Potions.

We know she did NEWT potions because you need NEWT potions to become an Auror. She's an Auror now so....

We know Snape favors students who are good in the subject.

So his opinion of her must be a certain level. Could be why he was dissapointed she loved Remus, because Remus must suck at potions since he needed Snape to make the wolfsbane for him.

Just want to point out another thing they have in common.

They are starting to seem more alike aren't they?

I still dont get it, I kinda find these really well far fetch ideas that Toonmili went out of the way out of her way to make this theory. (no ofense because you always come up with something interesting.) But this theory just seems so... well like a corny magic trick where someone pulls a rabit out of the hat and says "Snape and Tonks because such and such." Most of the things that support this theory I kind of find minor from the book. There are a few that are like bam, but you still have to go out of your way to make this up.

So sorry Toonmilli, I really do love you theories but this one is the one that I dont support...

Don't fret to much over it. This was not meant to be something that I think will happen. It's something that I want to happen. But the odds are very very low. I'm just - like you said- digging up for ANYTHING that might make it possible. It is very farfetched because it's Snape we're talking about but I still think it will be nice. HE HE. If he doesn't die in Deathly Hallows then he needs a girlfriend assuming that Irma Pince is his mother and not his wife, which goes into a whole other thing that I don't want to discuss. I really hope Irma ain't his wife though, I wold hate to see thier children.

Only Problem is we don't really know when Snape started teaching potions.
nor do we know if Tonks even went to Hogwarts. I forget but when P. Umbridge is watching over the lessons she asks how long Snape has been on the job and he says 18 or 19 ? I forget....

oh well i am just getting myself confused....

For some reason i think Snape would be annoyed of Tonks.

Just checked Wikipedia.

He said he had been teaching for fifteen years. The same year Lily and James died.

Tonks did go Hogwarts and she was in huffelpuff. She is 16 years younger than Lupin meaning she is also sixteen years younger than Snape.

Tonks is 23 in HBP
Snape is 39.

So when Tonks was fourteen he was 30. He was certainly teaching Hogwarts at thirty.

Lily died when he was 1981. in 1981 he was 24. So yeah he was teaching at Hogwarts for Six years when she was wirting her owls, which means he was her teacher since year one.

Okay now I'm starting to get grossed out now that I have worked out the age difference. Lupin is too old for her. She should just go with Bill. I never liked Fleur.

But I still think I prefer Snape if it must be someone so much older, at least he doesn't turn into a beast every full moon. Although he acts like a beast throughout the month.

I don't know which is less disturbing.

OH crap you guys are killing my ship, now the fanfiction I have started will be very difficult to finish. Sad

At least it is better than some other things I came across. Snape/ McGonagall. That is disturbing because she is about twenty years older than him. Ewww. Shipping in Harry Potter is hard work.

snape started ten years ago when harry entered hogwarts. so im betting that tonks went to hogwarts sometime during those ten years coz she's younger than snape but older than harry. she might have been bill's classmate. i doubt she was in seventh year when harry was in first year, because she was wondering how harry looked like. therefore she might have been the classmate of either bill or charlie.

Like you said. opposites attract. Shes a bit goofy so she would want a older (more mature) man. Where in the book does it say she was in hufflepuff. i missed that X_X !!
